Student answer (Band 6.0)

People now-a-days can buy food from supermarket in many countries that is produced globally . I think this is a positive development because we can enjoy unique food and met our nutrition demands. It is also helpful for a country economy as we can export and import items.

Most of the countries geography and environment does not allow it to produce all the food that is necessary to met the requirements of food. As a result lack of varity in food items are very common. Buying foreign food from a supermarket can met that need. It will also help the consumers to taste and enjoy foods from different countries. For example dates can not be produced in cold weather, so they have to buy dates from countries with humid and hot weather. As every food we buy have different food values and vitamins, we have to consume foods of various tttaste and values.

Again importing and exporting food to other countries can boost a country economy. Foreign currency reserve can be enriched by exporting foods that are produced in a large amount. Buying consumers goods from a country can make a strong international relation. Not only food items but also this will help the local farmers and trades of the host country. In my own country rice is produced in huge quantity. Thus by exporting rice we can buy other food items which will make the life of our people better.

So, buying globally produced food items from a supermarket is very positive development in most of the countries. The food requirements are met by this practice. Finally a country can improve its overall international relations by buying foods from other countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development. You address the question with relevant reasons, including greater food choice, meeting nutritional needs, and benefits from importing and exporting. The examples about dates and rice help make the argument more concrete. However, the nutrition point is asserted rather than explained, and the claim that trade improves international relations and helps local farmers is not developed as fully as the food-availability argument. To strengthen the response, explain the links between each benefit and consumers’ lives, and support broader economic claims with a specific example. This would make the ideas more consistently extended while preserving your clear position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion restates the position. The progression from food availability and variety to economic benefits is logical, and signposts such as “As a result,” “Again,” and “So” help readers follow the argument. Some connections are less smooth, however. The sentence beginning “As every food we buy…” follows the dates example but does not clearly explain how that example supports the nutrition claim. Also, “Not only food items but also this…” is difficult to follow because the reference is unclear. Use more precise links between examples and claims, and vary transitions so that the argument feels less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “nutrition demands,” “foreign currency reserve,” “international relation,” and “produced in huge quantity.” There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “humid and hot weather.” However, several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision: “varity,” “tttaste,” and “met” recur, while phrases such as “food values” and “buying consumers goods” are not natural in this context. Some wording is also repetitive, particularly “food items” and “countries.” Build accuracy with common collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise alternatives would make the argument clearer and more fluent without requiring unusually advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including a result clause (“As a result…”) and a conditional example (“As every food we buy…”). The overall meaning is generally understandable, but errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “Most of the countries geography and environment does not allow it” has problems with the possessive form and subject–verb agreement, while “lack of varity in food items are” does not agree in number. “As a result lack…” also needs clearer sentence punctuation. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and review articles and singular/plural agreement. More accurate control of these patterns would make your complex sentences easier to read.
