Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You give a clear opinion that access to international supermarket food is positive, and you offer relevant reasons, including choice, convenience, discounts and the range of goods at D-Mart. However, the response does not fully develop the task: most points are listed rather than explained, and the example of D-Mart focuses on departments and facilities rather than food produced around the world. The response is also 62 words below the required minimum, which limits the opportunity to explain your reasons and provide a relevant example. To strengthen the answer, explain how imported foods benefit consumers—for instance, by offering seasonal produce or allowing people to try other cuisines—and develop one example in detail. A brief conclusion would also reinforce your position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic overall direction: you state your view first and then give supporting points, with “To start with” signalling the main body. The D-Mart example also attempts to support your argument. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, and ideas are joined mainly through repeated “and” and commas. This makes the progression difficult to follow, especially where discounts, product quality, facilities and staff assistance appear in the same sentence. Some links, such as “while other think,” do not clearly show the relationship between ideas. Use separate paragraphs for your position, developed reasons and conclusion, and connect each point with clear transitions such as “Furthermore” or “For example.”
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some vocabulary relevant to shopping and consumer choice, including “supermarket,” “discount,” “local shops,” “quality product” and “department.” These words help communicate your general meaning. However, the range is repetitive, with “people,” “thing” and “supermarket” appearing frequently, and several spelling errors make the writing harder to understand, such as “opation,” “chpaer” and “availbale.” Some phrases are also imprecise, including “all think under one sade” and “benefitslay offer.” Aim to use more precise vocabulary connected to the question, such as “imported produce,” “international food choices” and “consumer convenience.” Check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations so your ideas are expressed more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences and use a few basic structures to explain reasons and give an example. However, sentence boundaries and punctuation are often unclear, as in the long sentence beginning “To start with, people buy their all food…” This creates run-on sentences and makes relationships between clauses difficult to follow. There are also recurring problems with articles, agreement and verb forms: for example, “supermarket have” needs a plural subject or singular verb, and “they gave discount” does not use the appropriate article or plural form. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas with accurate conjunctions. Check subject–verb agreement, articles and punctuation during revision.
