Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this contemporary era, it is often argued that buyers can easily buy the food that produced in other nation in a local supemarket. I considerably believe this trend has both positive and negative development which will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.

One of the key reasons for supporting the positive development is wider choice. To detail it out, this trend allow the consumers to taste the food that produced in other corner of world. Moreover, individuals can taste different food everyday which means they can prepare different nation cuisine every other day and have a new taste. Another reason is conveniency. To put it in other words, in previous era it is not possible to taste a different country food which you have when you travel to other nation but you like it very tasty. As a result, this development give the same dish in their own near super market or restaurant. For instance, i loved the taste of some chocalates which are produced in dubai and this trend allow me to taste same chocalte in my native town.

Despite some of the positive development, there are some negative impact due to this trend. Firstly, disapearence of the local food. To explain it further, although this trend provide different cuisines to taste. However, this makes the famous local food less likely for the individuals who onces loved this same local food. Additionally, this trend also leads to recession for the restaurant who provides local food. Secondly, loosing the cultural identity. To explain in detail, the food which can only produced in a single country and it has their own value and cultural identity. So, inevitably everyone likes that because it is not widely available. But this trend make this widely available and slowly it loose their identity.

Conclusively, I believe this trend has sword with double edges , so although this trend provides wider variety of choice and different taste everyday. However, this also leads to loose the identity of food and also leads towards recession for local food and restaurent.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you see access to international food as having both benefits and drawbacks, and you address both sides with relevant points. The discussion of wider choice and convenience is supported by the example of Dubai chocolates, while the concerns about local cuisine and restaurants respond directly to the question. This meets the task well, though the prompt asks whether the development is positive or negative, and your conclusion mainly calls it a “double-edged” trend rather than making a clear overall judgement. Some claims, such as international food causing local restaurants to face a recession, are asserted without explaining how or giving support. State which side you consider stronger and develop the less-supported ideas further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress in a sensible order, and signposts such as “Moreover,” “Firstly,” and “Secondly” help readers follow the discussion. This organisation is effective, but some linking is mechanical or contradictory: “although” is followed by “However” in the same sentence, and the conclusion repeats the contrast without resolving it. References such as “this trend” recur frequently, making the connections between points feel repetitive. Improve progression by linking each explanation directly to its main claim, varying referencing, and using the conclusion to synthesise the arguments and state a definite overall view.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “wider choice,” “cultural identity,” “local food,” and “cuisines.” There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “double edges,” but several choices and spelling errors reduce precision and naturalness. Examples include “conveniency,” “disapearence,” “loosing,” “chocaltes,” and “restaurent”; “recession for the restaurant” is also an awkward way to describe harm to local businesses. Some phrases, such as “food that produced in other corner of world,” are difficult to interpret smoothly. Build accuracy by checking spelling and word forms, and learn natural collocations for describing availability, competition, and cultural traditions.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “although,” and “because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur across verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “this trend allow” should use a singular verb, while “food that produced” needs a passive construction such as “food that is produced.” The sentence beginning “To explain it further, although…” combines clauses awkwardly, and “the food which can only produced” is missing an auxiliary verb. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the overall meaning remains understandable. Practise accurate basic sentence patterns first, then build complex sentences while checking verb agreement, auxiliaries, and clause boundaries.
