Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you consider international food in supermarkets a positive development, and you give relevant reasons, including convenience, time saved, access to a wider range of food and payment options. The examples about buying groceries, fish and vegetables in one place help explain the convenience point. However, several ideas are asserted rather than developed. For instance, the claim that imported foods are “more nutrients and more organic” is unclear and unsupported, and the point about traditional shops is introduced but not connected fully to your overall judgement. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits with specific examples and address possible disadvantages, such as effects on local producers or food transport, before showing why the positives outweigh them.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the overall position is easy to identify. You use signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand” and “To sum up” to guide the reader. However, the progression between ideas is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph focuses on general supermarket convenience, while the second moves among international cuisine, nutrition, payment methods, marketing and traditional shops. Some linking phrases are repetitive or do not show the relationship precisely, as in “As a result” before the point about tasting international cuisine. Group related points into clearer paragraphs and use referencing and transitions that show whether an idea is an example, consequence or contrast.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “international cuisine,” “traditional shops,” “customer services” and “marketing strategies,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “hustle and bustle,” though this is repeated and does not always fit the context. Frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word choices reduce precision, including “suparmarket,” “grocerry,” “vagetables,” “nutirents” and “contemporay.” Some combinations are unnatural, such as “necessary consume items” and “more organic.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations for food, shopping and consumer benefits; this will make your vocabulary more reliable and easier to follow.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “which,” “but” and “if.” However, errors occur frequently, and some sentences are difficult to process. For example, “it allow customers” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “their time and energy both saves” has an incorrect verb form. The sentence beginning “If they follow modern business standards” lacks a clear main clause, and “As they import fresh and contemporay cuisine” is a fragment in the conclusion. Articles, plurals and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check agreement and punctuation, especially when joining ideas with conjunctions.
