Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You clearly state that access to food from around the world is a positive development, and you give relevant examples, including Korean ramen and imported chocolate, juice and fruit. You also offer several reasons, such as serving consumers from different backgrounds and contributing to supermarket sales and tax revenue. However, the response only partially develops the task: the benefits are asserted rather than explained in detail, and the GDP point is not clearly connected to how imported food affects the wider economy. The discussion also focuses mainly on supermarkets and business, with little consideration of consumers’ choices or possible disadvantages. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or specific example to make your position more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable structure: an opening position, three body paragraphs signalled by “firstly,” “Secondly” and “Finally,” and a conclusion. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within paragraphs is often unclear, and several ideas are repeated, particularly that foreign food is becoming popular and benefits supermarkets. Linking phrases such as “in that moment” and “and also” do not always show the relationship between ideas accurately. Some sentences run together, making it difficult to see where one point ends and another begins. Organise each paragraph around one distinct reason, use clearer links between explanation and example, and separate sentences with appropriate punctuation.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “consumers,” “GDP,” “tax” and “imported,” and examples such as “Korean ramen” help make the subject clear. However, the range is limited and many words or phrases are repeated, especially “food,” “day by day,” “supermarket” and “benefit.” Frequent spelling errors, including “Banladesh,” “famuse” and “supuremarket,” and inaccurate word forms such as “variasion” and “development” in “this kind of food are development” make the writing harder to follow. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “produce this kind of food” when describing what shops sell. Build a more accurate topic vocabulary and check spelling, word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, and the use of “because” and “if” shows an effort to connect ideas. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts at longer sentences are often faulty. Errors in agreement and verb forms occur throughout, as in “It is help,” “foreign food are help” and “many consumers are came.” Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, for example “in many country” and “a foregin country food.” Punctuation is frequently missing after sentence boundaries, as in the opening paragraph, which further obscures meaning. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses while checking subject–verb agreement, tense and sentence punctuation.
