Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays in many countries, consumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world. I believe that this is a positive development for countries around the world.

The positive era is that consumers have multiple food choices, a variety of foods are available whether they are seasonal or non-seasonal. Supermarkets are the best option for consumers they facilitate people with a variety of food options. Consumers don't want to move other countries to by their foods, they aslo help to save money and spend to by other things. For example, Saudi Arabia is the famous country for providing large no of dates all over the world, similarly, Pakistan is famous for producing the no. 1 rice and sell into other country at good rates. The one important benefit is that farmer sell their foods internationally at good rates, and its good for the economy.

The negative era is that consumer faces a lot of difficulties when they import or export food, especially large amount of fuel is used, causing loss in profit, and sometimes large number of food were demaged. Trucks that are used for the import and export purpose cause a lot of air pollution and dangerous for people's health. Sometime good quaility food export to the other countries just for some more money cause their own people struggle for the good quality food.

In conclusion, every development has both positive and negative effect, but it is better to manage equally either you import or export something, always first prefer you country you people. Although negative impact exist, positive development has large number of benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the opening: you consider worldwide food availability a positive development, and you address both benefits and drawbacks before concluding. Relevant support includes consumer choice, international sales for farmers, and pollution from transport. However, some points are only briefly explained or unclear. For instance, the claim that consumers “save money” is not linked clearly to buying imported food, and the examples of dates and rice do not show how this access benefits consumers. The conclusion also introduces the idea of prioritising one’s own country without explaining how this fits your overall position. Develop the main benefits more fully and make the final judgement more precise. The response meets the required length; 14 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for positive and negative effects, and a conclusion. This makes the overall direction easy to follow, and signposts such as “For example” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “The positive era” and “The negative era” do not accurately introduce the points, while the sentence about consumers not moving to other countries shifts abruptly into saving money. The final sentence beginning “Although” is also awkwardly attached to the preceding conclusion. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main idea, group related explanations together, and make references such as “they” unambiguous to improve progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “seasonal,” “internationally,” “fuel,” “air pollution,” and “economy.” There are also attempts to express more specific concepts, such as food being damaged during transport. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear: “positive era” and “negative era” are not suitable here, and “large no of dates” is informal and imprecise. Spelling errors such as “demaged,” “quaility,” and “aslo” are noticeable. Build a more accurate set of phrases for trade, consumer access, and environmental effects, and check spelling and formal word choice during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can generally understand the argument. Some sentences use clauses to explain consequences, as in “Trucks that are used for the import and export purpose cause a lot of air pollution.” However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. For example, “Supermarkets are the best option for consumers they facilitate…” joins two independent clauses without suitable punctuation, while “farmer sell” and “food were demaged” show problems with number and agreement. The final sentence, “it is better to manage equally,” is also difficult to interpret grammatically. Practise accurate clause boundaries and check subject–verb agreement, singular/plural forms, and articles when editing.
