Student answer (Band 5.5)

Eating healthy food plays a vital role in maintenance of the good physical and mental health. The food we eat, contributes heavily to the way our body is functioning. For example, having the deficiency of iron directly leads to the paleness of the skin color, fatique and various other symptoms.

In many countries now a days, comsumers can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world. This is one of the positive development countries are doing so far. This development provide consumers with the variety of different items they can eat. Every item has its own nutrional advantages. Different items from different parts of world can serve a unique purpose, that no other thing can replace. For example, the dark chocolates from africa provides a range of various nutrional advantages and are so good for the smooth functioning of the body. If they are only available in africa, their advantages can only be used by a limited number of people, but currently they are available in every corner of the world. As a result, large number of people are eating them and enjoying its taste and improving their quality of diet.

This is a super beneficial development if we see it in terms of people living in abroad, miles away from their roots. As they can get the taste of their local food in abroad too. For example, the shan wide range of maslas are available in supermarkets of all over the world. As a result, the Asian people living in europe or britian can stay connected to their taste despite living miles away.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development, and you give two relevant reasons—access to a wider range of foods and the ability of people living abroad to find familiar products. The examples of dark chocolate and Shan spices help illustrate these points. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the nutritional benefits of chocolate are asserted rather than explained, and the second reason is brief. The opening comments on healthy eating and iron deficiency do not directly establish why international food availability is positive. To strengthen the response, explain the benefits more precisely and consider a relevant qualification, such as cost or environmental impact, while keeping your overall position clear.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph about variety and nutrition, and a paragraph about familiar foods for people living abroad. This makes the main line of argument understandable. However, progression is uneven because the opening discussion of health and iron deficiency is not clearly connected to the question, and the final paragraph ends without a concluding summary. Linking phrases such as “For example” and “As a result” help show relationships, but some connections are repetitive or unclear, including “This development provide consumers…” and the transition into the point about people abroad. Organise the essay around one reason per body paragraph, make each example explicitly support its reason, and add a concise conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “nutritional advantages,” “quality of diet,” “supermarkets,” and “stay connected to their taste.” These expressions help communicate your ideas about food access and cultural familiarity. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “fatique,” “comsumers,” “nutrional,” and “maslas” are misspelled, while “a range of various” is redundant and “smooth functioning of the body” is imprecise in this context. Repeated use of “different,” “available,” and “development” also makes the writing less varied. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing more exact phrases, such as “a wider selection of imported foods” or “maintain cultural connections through familiar cuisine.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “If they are only available in Africa…” and clauses beginning with “As they can…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but errors in sentence construction and agreement are frequent enough to make some passages awkward. For example, “This is one of the positive development countries are doing” has problems with the noun phrase and clause structure, while “This development provide” lacks subject–verb agreement. The opening sentence also needs an article in “maintenance of the good physical and mental health,” and the comma in “The food we eat, contributes” is unnecessary. Practise accurate articles, agreement, and complete sentence structures, then proofread punctuation.
