Student answer (Band 6.0)
In various countries at present, consumers can get food products from all over the world just by going to a nearest supermarket. In my view, purchasing products from supermarkets will make things convenient for the consumers.
On the one hand, consumers are buy products such as tropical fruits, vegetables and groceries from the store which will be available from all over the world. As a result, they will get all products not only just seasonal ones, as supply will be available from all over the world. To give an example, if a person wants to make chinese dish. They can go to nearest store and buy all the items imported from china to try that cuisine. This gives advantage to the consumers.
On the other hand, importing products from different countries from plane and ships, it will cost high and it will also be very harmful as carbon emissions is produced. As a result, it will harm the enviornment. To quote an example, local farmers will not be able to compete with the large suppliers, eventually they will leave the market. So, country will be depended on the other countries for food supplies.
In my opinion, it is beneficial and convenient for the customers to buy products from nearest supermarkets. Everything will be available of their choice in one single store from all over around the world.
In conclusion, global food trading will give many jobs and benefits to the country. However, the government should also support local farmers and encourage local people to buy from them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you see worldwide supermarket food as convenient and beneficial, while recognising environmental and economic drawbacks. You address both sides and give relevant examples, such as buying ingredients for a Chinese dish and local farmers struggling to compete. This meets the task, but the discussion is unevenly developed. The benefits paragraph mainly repeats that products are available from around the world, while the costs paragraph introduces emissions, farmers’ livelihoods and dependence on imports without explaining these links in much detail. The conclusion also adds that global trade creates jobs, a point not developed earlier. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each main point and make your overall judgement about the trade-off more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument, and examples are placed alongside the relevant points. However, some connections feel mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “As a result,” and the progression within paragraphs is not always smooth. For example, the discussion moves from transport emissions to local farmers and then national dependence without clearly showing how these concerns relate. The final claim about jobs also appears abruptly. Use a wider range of linking methods and make the relationship between each claim and its explanation explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “tropical fruits,” “carbon emissions,” “local farmers,” and “food supplies.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “compete with the large suppliers.” However, several word choices and collocations are awkward or imprecise, including “get food products,” “it will cost high,” and “Everything will be available of their choice.” Spelling errors such as “enviornment” and “chinese” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Practise common collocations for trade, transport and consumer choice, and check spelling and word forms during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple sentences and some more complex forms, including conditional phrasing (“if a person wants to make…”) and clauses introduced by “as” and “which.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “consumers are buy products” has an incorrect verb form, while “carbon emissions is produced” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Articles and sentence construction also need attention in “go to a nearest store” and “importing products from different countries from plane and ships, it will cost high.” The final sentence of the first body paragraph shifts from “a person” to “They.” Review verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, while continuing to practise varied sentence structures.
