Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, people can purchase different variety of foods from all over the world by visiting a supermarket. Although this eases the hurdle from visiting multiple shops and buying everything from one place, there are some downsides too for local market. I believe this is a negative development as this causes affect in local market and economical growth.
On one hand, people can purchase imported products from a supermarket which leads them to higher living standards. For example, many people present imported or high quality chips and drinks when guests arrive at their homes. Subsequently, some fruits are not locally grown, hence supermakets provides greater quality of imported fruits that people can purchase. For example, dragonfruit, avacado, etc.
On the other hand, local markets are disturbed due to people not preferring it over supermarkets. Hence, there is a substantial loss in economical growth. Cost is another cause for this as many imported products are so expensive that a middle or lower class family could not afford it. Furthermore, this development causes a local business huge loss which eventually leads to multiple job losses. Transportation is another major factor for this issue, as imported products are transported through air services. This leads to carbon emission gas releases which affects our atmosphere.
In conclusion, although there a some positive affects, but in my opinion, negative factors outweigh positive factors. The main factor is for local market which leads to business loss. The government should provide subsidies for those businesses that are affected for it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you consider worldwide supermarket food a negative development, mainly because it harms local businesses and contributes to environmental damage. You address both sides by acknowledging convenience and access to imported foods before explaining your concerns, and the examples of imported fruit and possible job losses are relevant. This gives the response a solid, task-focused foundation. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained: for instance, the link between imported products and “economical growth” is not made precise, and the environmental point could explain more clearly how transport emissions compare with other effects. Develop each main reason with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and a specific example to make the argument more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present contrasting sides, and the conclusion restates your position. Signposting such as “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the argument. Some connections, however, feel mechanical or unclear. “Subsequently” does not clearly show how the point about fruit follows from the previous example, while “Hence” is used repeatedly to introduce consequences. The first body paragraph also moves quickly from living standards to entertaining guests and then to fruit, without explaining the relationship between these examples. Use more precise links between claims and examples, and organise each paragraph around one main idea with its supporting explanation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “imported products,” “local markets,” “substantial loss,” “carbon emission,” and “subsidies.” These choices show an attempt to discuss economic and environmental effects rather than relying only on basic terms. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions limit precision: “different variety of foods,” “causes affect in local market,” and “economical growth” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “supermakets” and “avacado.” Aim to learn common collocations and check word forms and spelling; for example, use “a wider variety,” “affects local markets,” and “economic growth.” This would make your meaning clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “although,” “as,” and “which,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some sentence patterns are not controlled accurately, however. In “Although this eases the hurdle …, there are some downsides too for local market,” the article and sentence construction need attention; “although there are some positive affects, but…” also combines two contrasting structures unnecessarily. Agreement is inconsistent in “supermarkets provides,” and the sentence about what a family “could not afford it” has an unnecessary object pronoun. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and clause structure, then proofread for punctuation and sentence boundaries. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
