Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You state a positive view and give a personal supermarket visit as an example, including foods you bought. However, the response does not explain why access to food from around the world is beneficial or consider any relevant drawbacks, so the central question is only minimally addressed. The shopping list describes products but does not connect them to international food availability; it is also unclear whether these items came from different countries. The response is substantially below the required 250 words, leaving no room to develop reasons or support your position. To improve, explain specific benefits—such as greater choice or access to seasonal products—and develop each with a relevant example before concluding clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The events are presented in a basic sequence, from entering the supermarket to buying different kinds of food, and words such as “So,” “Then,” and “also” help show order. This gives the reader a simple account to follow. However, the response is one continuous paragraph and reads mainly as a list, rather than as an argument with a clear introduction, developed supporting points, and conclusion. Repeated use of “Then I buy” also makes the progression mechanical, while the link between the shopping example and the opinion is not explained. Organise the essay into paragraphs and use linking expressions to show reasons and results, not only the order of events.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use a range of basic food and shopping vocabulary, including “pulses,” “rice,” “ghee,” “hot spices,” and “ready to eat food,” which makes the personal example understandable. There are also attempts to be specific through quantities and product names. However, vocabulary is mostly limited to naming items, with little language for explaining or evaluating the development. Several spelling errors, including “suger,” “gabbage,” “thier,” and “grappes,” reduce accuracy, and some phrases are unnatural, such as “food stalls” for supermarket sections or products. Build vocabulary for discussing choice, availability, imports, and benefits, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response communicates a simple sequence using mostly short clauses, and the sentence beginning “when I entered the supermarket” shows an attempt to use a subordinate clause. However, grammatical control is uneven. For example, “Yes, this the positive development” is missing a verb, and “Supermarket are very big” has an agreement error. Past events are often described with “I buy” rather than the past form “I bought,” and “I saw different types of food stalls are available” combines structures incorrectly. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise accurate past-tense narration and basic sentence patterns first, then add a few controlled complex sentences to explain your reasons.
