Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, almost every country has supermarkets. These supermarkets have goods produced all around the world. I believe this a positive develpment with more advantages.
One of the major advantages of the international foods is that they are more convinient for customers. This is becasue often they consisted with wide range of products from all around the world. Customers can accesss wide range of products and can purchase them. As a result, customers may use their money and time efficiently with better satisfaction. Furthermore these supermarkets allow consumers to access to products with higher reputation in the world. These products cannot be attain through simple retailer shops. Also consumers can obtain these products throughout the year. for instance, people can buy seasonal fruits and vegetables all around the year.
However these easy access to foods produced around the world can be a problem to some parties such as local producers. This is because when customers adopt to international brands and values they never seek local products although they are more nutrtional and cheap. As a result domestic producers livelihood can be affected. Also sometimes these products are expensive than the local products. therefore people with low-income can afford these products.
In conclusion, although the international food trade can affect negatively to local producers and low-income people, I believe that its benefits outweigh the drawbacks because it provides consumers with greater choices and improved food availability.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development, and the conclusion restates that view while acknowledging drawbacks. You address both benefits and disadvantages, with relevant points about consumer choice, year-round availability, local producers and affordability. However, several ideas are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that international products have a “higher reputation” is not supported with an example, and the effect on local producers is only briefly described. The point about low-income consumers is also unclear: you say they “can afford these products,” which appears to contradict the claim that the products are more expensive. The response is 16 words below the required minimum, so there is less space to develop and support your arguments. Explain the consequences more fully and clarify this affordability point.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction states your view, separate body paragraphs present advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion gives a final judgement. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “As a result” help signal the direction of the argument. Some connections are nevertheless mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always smooth. In the first body paragraph, the ideas about convenience, product reputation and seasonal availability are placed together without fully showing how each supports the main point. The reference in “these products” is also not always precise. Use clearer topic sentences and develop one point at a time, with a specific explanation or example before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main argument, including “international foods,” “local producers,” “seasonal fruits and vegetables,” and “food availability.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “domestic producers’ livelihood.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “convinient,” “nutrtional,” and “attain” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “higher reputation in the world” and “adopt to international brands and values.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully. A more precise vocabulary range would help you explain the economic and consumer effects without relying repeatedly on general terms such as “products” and “customers.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple sentences and some longer structures, including a conditional clause (“when customers adopt to international brands…”) and a contrast clause beginning “although.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but grammatical errors occur in several sentence patterns. For example, “I believe this a positive development” is missing a verb, and “they consisted with wide range” has an incorrect verb construction and article use. In “these products are expensive than the local products,” the comparison is not formed correctly; “more expensive than” is needed. There are also punctuation and capitalization slips, such as beginning “for instance” and “therefore” with lowercase letters after full stops. Practise accurate comparative forms, articles and verb patterns while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
