Student answer (Band 6.0)

In modern world, consumers in many nations can go to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the globe. I believe this is a positive development because it portrays the interconnectedness of countries which has led to peaceful co-existence and economic development of nations.

To begin with, importing and exporting of goods creates good relationships between the countries involved. For a country to have a market to sell their produce in a different state, they have already built a strong bond between them. For instance, consumers in Kenya enjoy plenty supplies of maize from Mexico. This has strengthened the relationship between Mexicans and Kenyans. As a result, this peaceful co existence may result in signing new treaties that can help their citizens in getting more benefits other than food.

Secondly, for countries to export goods, it means that it had a good gross domestic produce. By exporting, the farmers will enjoy better pay of their produce since exports are well paid. For instance, coffee planted in Kenya is exported to different countries and after a period of time, the farmers are given bonuses on what they had supplied. These bonuses are used by farmers locally to buy goods and improve their living starndards. By doing this, the country's economic development increases since the lifestyle of it's population is gradually changing.

Additionally, the exports countries will have better facilities such as roads so that the can easily access major towns where they take their products . This has also helped in shaping the countries economic growth.

In conclusion, exports and imports have helped countries in creating harmonious relationship and increasing their economic development which has changed the living starndards of their citizens.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability positive because it can support international relationships and economic development. Both reasons are relevant, and the Kenya–Mexico maize example and the discussion of Kenyan coffee give the response some specific support. However, the argument focuses mainly on the benefits of trade to countries and farmers, rather than explaining directly how consumers benefit from being able to buy food from around the world. The point about improved roads is also introduced briefly and not fully connected to the main argument. Develop each reason further and explain the link between global food choice and consumers’ lives to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, two main supporting sections and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the argument, and the examples are placed alongside the relevant points. This coherent arrangement meets the criterion well. To strengthen progression further, make the relationship between each example and the claim more explicit; for instance, explain how the maize trade demonstrates the benefits of consumers’ access to international food. The paragraph beginning “Additionally” is short and feels appended to the economic argument. Integrating it into that paragraph, with a clearer transition, would make the development less mechanical and more connected.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “importing and exporting,” “gross domestic produce,” “treaties,” and “economic development,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also noticeable problems with word choice, collocation and spelling that limit precision. For example, “good relationships” is vague, “better pay of their produce” is not a natural expression, and “living starndards” contains a spelling error that appears again in the conclusion. “Gross domestic produce” is also not the intended economic term. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; more precise language would help you express the argument without relying on broad phrases such as “good” and “better.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “since,” and “so that,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “it means that it had a good gross domestic produce” shifts tense and has an unclear pronoun reference; “the exports countries” has an incorrect article and noun form; and “so that the can easily access” is missing a clear subject. There are also punctuation and spacing slips, such as the space before the full stop after “products.” Review sentence subjects and verb forms, and proofread articles and punctuation. More consistently controlled complex sentences would improve accuracy.
