Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You give a clear overall view: access to international food is “generally positive,” and you identify choice and cultural experience as benefits. You also acknowledge a relevant drawback, namely pollution from transporting food. However, the response addresses the question only partially: the advantages are briefly stated rather than explained with specific examples, and the environmental point is not fully developed or clearly linked to the overall judgement. The final line, “in conclusion,” is unfinished, so there is no completed summary. The response is also 94 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to develop and support your ideas. To improve, explain how year-round availability benefits consumers and give a concrete example, then clarify how the transport impact compares with those benefits before concluding.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introduction, a paragraph about advantages, a paragraph about disadvantages, and a conclusion. The contrast marker “on the other hand” helps signal a change in direction, and “in conclusion” shows an intention to summarise. However, the overall progression is incomplete because the conclusion contains no argument, and the second body paragraph ends abruptly after “furthermore.” Some linking is mechanical, with repeated “furthermore,” while the long opening sentence combines several points without clear separation. Build each paragraph around one main idea, explain it in a logical sequence, and use linking phrases only where they show a genuine relationship. Complete the final paragraph by restating your position and briefly weighing the two sides.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “international food,” “wide range,” “imported,” “different countries and cultures,” and “pollution.” These choices show awareness of the subject, but the range is limited and some phrases are imprecise or repetitive, such as “all over the world” and “different countries” appearing close together. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “availablity,” “availiility,” and “developement,” which reduce accuracy. Some collocations could be more natural: “food in four seasons” is unclear, and “trucks and ships throwing trash” does not precisely describe transport emissions or waste. Aim for more exact topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully; for example, distinguish seasonal availability from year-round access and describe the environmental impact specifically.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both a complex opening sentence and simpler supporting statements, but the range of structures is limited and errors occur frequently enough to affect clarity. For example, “the supermarkets nowadays offers” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “i believe that is generally positive” is missing a subject after “that.” The phrase “although this development has some disadvantages” is not followed by a complete, well-formed contrast in the same sentence. The final paragraph is only a fragment, and punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent throughout. Practise forming complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. A useful revision strategy is to separate the opening into two sentences and read each sentence aloud to identify missing words or unfinished clauses.
