Student answer (Band 5.0)

The consumers preferred to buy to a supermarket and buy food produced all over the world from many different countries today. I hold this view as a negative development but I discuss also the other opinion regarding of this topic.

Nowadays, buyers can go to a supermarket and I find it as a good and bad influcence to alot of people. In a positive way, it is convenient to buy food produced all over the world because I believe it is easier and less hassle that you don't need to cook especially if its a ready to eat foods.

Meanwhile, I hold this view as a negative outcomes. I find it not healthy because you don't know what exactly the ingredients in a specific products from supermarket store because it is from known outside your country. Most of the consumers can't control if the product they buy is 100% healthy because we don't have any ideas if they are using a chemical equipment & they preserve the food before shipping to different countries. It is not also the usual product in a native country. They may also disappoint the taste buds of the consumers. Food from the store can have a bad impacts to the consumers especially for the old women/men that may trigger their gastro issues because of the product they produced. It highly recommend to eat a healthy food such as vegetables from your yard and food not from other places but only for a safe place you know it is safe and secured.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view that access to international food is negative, while briefly acknowledging convenience as a benefit. Your concerns about ingredients, preservation, and possible effects on older consumers are relevant to the question. However, the positive side is only briefly mentioned, and the negative points are asserted rather than explained with a specific example or evidence; the claim about “chemical equipment,” for instance, is unclear. The conclusion also shifts to recommending home-grown vegetables without fully summarising why global food access is harmful. The response is 245 words, so it is five words below the required minimum; this limits the space available to develop your reasoning. Extend and support your main points more clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph on convenience, and a longer paragraph explaining your concerns. Linking expressions such as “In a positive way” and “Meanwhile” show an attempt to guide the reader through contrasting views. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the introduction says you will discuss both opinions, but the final paragraph focuses on several loosely connected concerns, then moves to advice about vegetables. Some connections are also difficult to follow, particularly the link between imported food, “chemical equipment,” and health effects. Use one main idea per paragraph, explain how each supporting point relates to your position, and add a concise conclusion. More precise referencing and fewer abrupt transitions would make the argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “convenient,” “ingredients,” “preserve,” and “consumers,” so the reader can generally identify your subject and concerns. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “chemical equipment,” “native country,” and “gastro issues.” Repetition of “food,” “product,” and “consumers” also makes the discussion less precise. There are noticeable spelling and form errors, including “influcence” and “alot,” which reduce accuracy. Aim to use more precise topic vocabulary and check common collocations; for example, describe food as “processed or preserved” and refer to “digestive problems” rather than using an unclear phrase.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “because” and a relative clause in “that may trigger their gastro issues.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to interpret. Examples include “The consumers preferred to buy to a supermarket,” “I find it as a good and bad influence,” and “Most of the consumers can't control if the product they buy is 100% healthy.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, plurals, and sentence construction, as in “a bad impacts.” Practise building accurate basic sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and review singular/plural agreement and article use.
