Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, many countries have initiated the concept of supermarkets which have availbilty of different types of food produced all over the world. I strongly believe that this is a positive development to facilitate citizens.

Purchasing of food is a quite challanging and a hectic task, and supermarkets may help people to purchase different food items from same place. As a result, it may reduce their efforts. It may also save their time and vehicle fuel because everthing is availble at one place. Moreover, many people also degrade this development. They believe that supermarkets may consume their time due to huge rush of customers. They also believe that supermarkets have expensive items rather than local markets and shops. That's why they consider it a negative development. Howerver, i firmly hold opinion that items may be expensive but they do not compromise on their quality and standard.

I strongly consider it is a positive development. Supermarkets may also help many foreigner tourists to purchase local food of their own country because they have availbility of all world wide food items. As a result tourists may feel more happier and can enjoy their visits without food tension. Furthermore, supermarkets also have proper purchasing and billing methods rather than local shops. Thats why they attract their consumers toward them. In fact, These markets have fresh fruits and vegetable that are very hygenic and good quality because many regular inspection happen there to check food quality. For insatance, many celebraties and actors may also visits super markets regularly Because of their good environment and availbilty of quality foods at one place. They may also result in other people attractions. That's why consumers consider it a positive development.

In conclusion, Although purchasing grocery from market is a comlex task, and supermarkets have make it simple by introducing different food items at one place. So, customers prefer these markets rather than local markets that are waste of time, energy and fuel. Furthermore, supermarkets have good quality of food items imported from all over the world. That's main reason behind this positive development and i believe also it is a positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I strongly believe that this is a positive development”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You give relevant reasons, including convenience, saving time and fuel, access to familiar foods for tourists, and perceived food quality. You also acknowledge opposing views about crowds and prices, which helps address the question. However, some points are not fully explained or are only loosely connected to the global availability of food. For example, the claim that supermarkets help foreign tourists buy food from their own countries needs a clearer explanation of why this matters, and the celebrity example does not strongly support your argument. Develop fewer points with specific, convincing examples and explain how each relates to the question.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main position is easy to identify, and linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “As a result” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes uneven. The second paragraph moves from convenience to opposing views and then back to your opinion, while the next combines tourists, billing systems, food quality and celebrities. Repeated phrases such as “That's why” also make cohesion feel mechanical, and “these markets” is not always a precise reference. Group related reasons together, use clearer topic sentences, and vary linking and referencing so the argument develops more smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “supermarkets,” “local markets,” “quality,” “inspection” and “imported,” and you attempt phrases such as “positive development” and “billing methods.” However, the range is limited by repetition of “positive development,” “food” and “markets,” while several inaccurate or unnatural choices reduce precision. Examples include “degrade this development” for expressing criticism, “food tension,” and “other people attractions.” Spelling errors such as “availbilty,” “challanging” and “hygenic” are also noticeable. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main argument, but they make some sentences less clear. Build a more precise range of collocations and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, including clauses beginning with “because,” “although” and “that.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “supermarkets have make it simple” has an incorrect verb form, and “many regular inspection happen” has problems with agreement and number. In “I strongly consider it is a positive development,” the clause structure is not well controlled; “I strongly believe that it is…” would be clearer. There are also inconsistent capitalisation and punctuation, such as lowercase “i” and “Thats.” Continue practising accurate verb forms, agreement and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
