Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, consumers in many countries are started visiting to supermarkets for shopping and purchasing of food imported from all over the world. I strongly believe that this is a positive development as customers can save their times and efforts due to availbility of everthing at single place.
Purchasing food items and regular groceries may be a challenging and a hectic task for everyone. Supermarkets may help to solve this problem due to avaibility of all food items , vegetables and other grocery items at same place. Rather than visiting several different shops for purchasing different items, they prefer supermarkets for purchasing. As a result people can purchase every thing from one place which save their time and transportation cost. Many people also believe that super markets may higly rushed by hugw people and may be more expensive then local shops. But i think these conviences outweigh the supermarkets advantages. For instance, a family can purchase different vegetables, fruits and foreign foods if someone can try it to eat, from supermarket, visiting one place only.
I strongly believe that this is a positive development. Moreover, supermarkets may have good quality of items that are fresh and hygenic because of many food inspections. These inspections are a part of their daily activities that result in a good quality foods. Futhermore, supermarkets may be very beneficial for foreign tourists and other nationality people living in particular country. They may try their own country food by visiting supermarkets. As a result they may be happier and can enjoy their tourism without any tension of food. This would also increase foreigner attraction toward country and their cities having supermarkets. For instance, most of foreign students living in abroad cities can visit super markets to buy international food which are imported from all over ther world. So that they can concentrate their studies without any food problem.
In conclusion, supermarkets may allow citizens to purchase everything including food items, vegetables, and other grocery items by visiting onc one place rather then different local shops for different items. This may save their time and tranportation expenses. Consequently, supermarkets helps multinational people to purchase their own country food items as these are availble in there. I believe that this is a positive development and may be very beneficial for all individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development. You give relevant reasons, including convenience, access to familiar foods for international residents, and the possibility of trying imported products. The examples about foreign students and tourists help connect these points to real situations. However, the response focuses mainly on supermarkets’ convenience and benefits to people living abroad, so the wider effects of food being produced around the world—such as greater choice, cultural exchange, or possible drawbacks—are not explored in much depth. The claim that inspections ensure fresh, hygienic food is also asserted rather than explained. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation and a specific example to make the argument more complete and convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present supporting reasons, and a conclusion restates the position. Linking expressions such as “As a result,” “Moreover,” and “For instance” help signal relationships between ideas. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. In the first body paragraph, the sentence beginning “Many people also believe” introduces a counterargument, but “these conviences outweigh the supermarkets advantages” does not clearly identify which advantages you mean. The second paragraph also moves from food quality to tourists and then foreign students without fully connecting these points. Use clearer topic sentences, make references explicit, and organise each paragraph around one main reason with its explanation and example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “transportation cost,” “food inspections,” “foreign tourists,” and “international food,” and your meaning is generally understandable. However, the range is limited by repeated wording such as “purchase,” “food items,” and “supermarkets,” while several inaccurate or misspelled forms reduce precision: “availbility,” “higly,” “hygenic,” and “availble.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “foreigners attraction toward country” and “good quality foods.” Aim for more precise collocations and vary repeated terms—for example, distinguish imported products from everyday groceries. Careful proofreading of spelling and word forms would make your vocabulary more reliable and help your ideas sound clearer and more natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is usually clear. Some sentence patterns are controlled, such as “Rather than visiting several different shops … they prefer supermarkets.” However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain noticeable. For example, “consumers … are started visiting” uses an incorrect verb form, “which save their time” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “supermarkets helps” also needs agreement. The sentence “if someone can try it to eat” is difficult to follow because its clause structure is faulty. Practise accurate present-tense forms and agreement, and revise complex sentences to ensure each clause has a clear subject and verb.
