Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's globalized world, supermarkets across the globe increasingly stock different variety of food and products, and some of them are imported from different countries. This is a major and positive development, and this essay will provide aspects regarding positive development and tell how this positive development is beneficial for consumers.
Supermarkets are now well known and well established around the globe. Supermarkets are already helping people to save their time. The major benefit for the consumers is that they do not have go to the specific category shops to buy things because supermarkets are now having every kind of product and food which is used by the buyers for their daily life use. Supermarket is a combination of several items. For example, supermarkets are now having medicare products which helps consumers to go to the specific medical shops. This overall development is enhancing consumers daily life and saving their time.
On the other hand, another well known positive impact is on economy of different countries. Now a days because of supermarkets businesses and economies are entering in a major and positive era. This economical boost is strengthening the relations between multiple countries around the globe and help them to exchange their grown and made products. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear overall view that access to internationally produced food is positive, and you give relevant reasons, including convenience for shoppers and economic links between countries. However, the response only partly addresses the specific issue: much of the first body paragraph discusses supermarkets’ general range of goods, including “medicare products,” rather than the benefits of food from around the world. The economic paragraph also makes broad claims about a “positive era” and a “better and great future” without explaining how imported food creates these outcomes. Develop two directly relevant reasons with concrete examples, such as year-round access to seasonal produce or the opportunity to experience other cuisines, and explain each link to your position more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly separate convenience from economic effects. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand” and “To sum up” help signal stages of the response. However, “On the other hand” suggests a contrast even though the next paragraph gives another positive point, and repeated references to “positive development” make the progression feel mechanical. Several sentences repeat the same general claim about supermarkets helping consumers or countries, rather than advancing a connected explanation. Use more precise links between cause and effect, and make each paragraph follow a clear sequence: main point, explanation, and a specific example.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “imported,” “economies,” “exchange,” and “availability,” so the reader can follow the general subject. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, such as “positive development,” “different products,” and “better and great future.” Some word combinations are unnatural, including “different variety of food” and “cross culture things,” which reduce precision. Choose vocabulary that describes the actual effects of international food trade, and check collocations and word forms. For example, “a wider variety of food” is more natural than “different variety of food,” while “products from other cultures” is clearer than “cross culture things.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both short statements and longer sentences with clauses, for example, “With this positive development, it is also impacting directly on the people who are buying them.” This shows some attempt to vary sentence structure, and the overall meaning is usually understandable. However, errors recur in basic patterns and in longer constructions: “they do not have go” needs an infinitive marker, “products which helps” has subject–verb disagreement, and “help them to exchange” does not agree with its subject. Articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “Supermarket is a combination.” Aim to make each sentence grammatically complete and check agreement, articles and verb forms. Shorter, accurately controlled sentences would make your explanations clearer.
