Student answer (Band 5.5)

World now has become a global village. Technology and trade play an important role in this conection. Technology makes the communication easy and trade connects the border. Through this way comodities start moving from one place to another according to the need.

Initially a specific place was nominated for a market where the trader set their stall and customers came to purchase products. These market did not have any outside product , they had only products cultivated from a near land. So customers rely on that products and if they want other things they had to travel for many days to reach that products . It costed them expensive because they had to carry food to survive in a long travelling.

Now contries are more developed and government promote supermarkets for the facility of residents. In these markest every type of food and non food items are availabe . It also contains abroad items. These items make the life of people more easy. Before, it was not available because there was no proper transportation system. Items were transported through animals which take alot of time and inthat long journy items become expired. Then transportaion system updated with the helop of technology and also introduce food preservation methods. Through this way the items became able to reach throughout the world. Supermarkets have differnt saction for different items so buyer can easily find their relvant items easily. Expiries also mentioned on the items so one will knows the situation of item before purchasing.

Overall, supermarket are the moderen shape of old traditional market that provide all the type of food to the community and no one need to cover a larg distance for purchasing any item.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a generally positive view of international food availability, especially when you say imported items “make the life of people more easy” and explain that supermarkets let buyers find products without travelling far. However, the response does not state clearly whether this is a positive or negative development until the reader infers your position, and it does not fully explore the effects of buying food from around the world. Much of the discussion describes the history of markets and transport rather than developing reasons for your judgement. The point about expiry dates is relevant but needs explanation, and a specific example or a counterpoint—such as greater choice alongside possible effects on local producers—would make the argument more complete and convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it moves from global trade, to traditional markets, to modern supermarkets, and ends with a summary. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Initially,” “Now,” and “Overall” make the sequence easy to follow. At times, however, the progression is more historical than argumentative, so the reader is not consistently guided through reasons supporting your position. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, as in “Through this way” and “These items make the life of people more easy.” The final paragraph repeats the general benefit rather than drawing together the main reasons. Organise the body around two clear arguments and use references that make the links between claims explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “global village,” “transportation system,” “food preservation methods,” and “expiry dates.” These choices help communicate ideas about trade and supermarket access. However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, for example “conection,” “comodities,” “markest,” and “relevant items easily.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “the trader set their stall” and “the items became able to reach throughout the world.” Aim for accurate topic-specific collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise terms such as “imported produce,” “consumer choice,” and “local farmers” would help you discuss the question directly rather than relying on general references to items and products.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “if,” and “which,” and the main ideas are usually understandable. However, errors occur frequently in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms. For example, “These market did not have” needs plural agreement, while “government promote supermarkets” needs a suitable article or plural subject and a matching verb. In “items were transported through animals which take alot of time,” the tense shifts, and “one will knows” has an incorrect verb form. Some long sentences also join ideas awkwardly. Practise building accurate sentences with subordinate clauses, then check subject–verb agreement, tense consistency, and articles; this will make your meaning clearer and more controlled.
