Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is no gainsaying the fact that these days, customers can purchase any local or international food on their local supermarkets in large number of countries. While this trend offers both merits and demerits, I believe that its benefits outweigh the drawbacks of the situation. Thus, it is a positive change.
At the outset, the most significant advantage is the availability of food from all over the world at one place. Nowadays, one can relish the taste of food that is produced far away from a place with the help of freezing techniques and fast transportation. For instance, a person went to supermarket in Canada and can enjoy the taste of Kashmiri apples and mangoes. Another important factor is fostering relationship between countries. If countries starts trading their local fruits and vegetables , they can get more profits and it will also develop their economy. To give the example of this the countries like India and Japan exports their local specialities to many other nations and earn profits.
However, there are several disadvantages of this trend. One of the most obivous drawback is the transportation and warehousing cost .Due to the cost of shifting and storing the food, the food prices are slightly high. Nonetheless, getting the exotic fruits at a local supermarket is worth spending that money. Therefore, with using proper transportation and storing techniques ,the cost can be reduced and people can enjoy the delicious taste from all over the world.
In Conclusion, it seems to me that we gain more than we lose. Consequently, it is a welcoming change.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction—“its benefits outweigh the drawbacks”—and remains consistent in the conclusion. You address both positive and negative aspects, including access to international produce, trade and economic benefits, and transport and storage costs. The examples of Kashmiri fruit in Canada and trade between India and Japan help make the discussion relevant. This meets the task well, while showing some of the development expected at a stronger level. However, several points are asserted rather than fully explained: for example, the link between food exports and stronger relationships between countries needs clarification, and the claim that better storage and transport can reduce costs is not supported with detail. Develop these explanations and make the examples more precise to strengthen your response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on advantages, a paragraph on disadvantages, and a conclusion. The progression from benefits to drawbacks is easy to follow, and signposts such as “At the outset,” “However,” and “In Conclusion” make the organisation clear. This is effective, though some linking is mechanical and the connections between ideas could be smoother. For instance, the paragraph on advantages moves from food availability to international relationships without explaining the transition, while “Nonetheless” introduces a response to higher prices but does not fully develop the contrast. Use clearer referencing and connect each supporting point explicitly to the main argument. Also check spacing after sentence-ending punctuation to make the presentation easier to read.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “freezing techniques,” “transportation,” “warehousing cost,” and “exotic fruits.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and some less common expressions show an effort to vary your language. However, several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “on their local supermarkets,” “in large number of countries,” and “a welcoming change.” There are also spelling errors, including “obivous,” and some repetition of “food,” “taste,” and “profits.” Aim for more precise, natural combinations and proofread spelling. For example, use “available in local supermarkets,” “in many countries,” and “a welcome development”; varying repeated terms will also make the argument more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “While this trend offers both merits and demerits” and a conditional structure beginning “If countries…”. The meaning is generally clear, and the errors do not usually prevent understanding. Some grammatical inaccuracies remain, however. For example, “a person went to supermarket” has an incorrect article and tense for a general example; “If countries starts” has subject–verb disagreement; and “the countries like India and Japan exports” also has agreement problems. There are occasional punctuation and sentence-boundary issues, such as the missing space after “situation.” Practise accurate articles, agreement, and verb forms, then proofread each sentence while retaining your varied structures.
