Student answer (Band 6.0)

At present, shoppers in numerous nations can purchase imported food products from all over the globe at their local grocery stores. I think this is an positive development, as it gives people a greater variety, and helps in economic growth.

The primary reason why i see this as a positive development is that, it provies local people to enjoy different kinds of food. They can enjoy different varieties of exotic fruits, vegetables. They can also ensure access to essential vitamins and diverse food choices that might not grow locally. For example, people in sydney can taste apples of mustang , individuals living in canada can easily eat pickles made in jhapa.

Another reason is that it helps in the economic development of nation and small scale businesses. It will directly or indirectly benefits the nation as they will receive taxes paid by the bussinesses. There will be a lot of profits for the small-scale businesses as they will get greater market exposure and have chance of big profits which will help them to grow larger. For example, my mother owns a small business of spices which is very famous in Nepal and outside Nepal. The sale of spices was rapidly increased all over the globe and we were benefited will excessive amount of profit.

In conclusion, i believe that the food items cultivated and manufatured worldwide has helped the consumers in supermarkets across many nations and is a positive development. The main reason is that it gives consumer a lot of variety and small scale businesses to grow.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you consider worldwide food availability positive, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the question with two relevant reasons—greater food choice and economic benefits—and support them with examples, including imported produce and your mother’s spice business. However, the first example is difficult to interpret, and the economic point would be stronger if you explained more clearly how international sales benefit local producers and consumers. Some claims, such as the link between imports and access to vitamins, are asserted rather than fully explained. Develop each reason with a clearer cause-and-effect explanation and make the examples directly illustrate the point.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “The primary reason,” “Another reason,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the argument. Within paragraphs, however, some links are mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear. For instance, the sentence about taxes is followed by a claim about profits for small businesses without explaining how these points connect. The examples also arrive abruptly, particularly the references to Mustang apples and Jhapa pickles. Use linking phrases to show cause, contrast, or illustration, and make sure each example is explicitly tied back to its paragraph’s main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “imported food products,” “essential vitamins,” “economic development,” and “market exposure,” which allows you to discuss both consumer choice and business benefits. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “exotic fruits” and “small-scale businesses.” However, several word-choice, spelling, and collocation problems reduce precision: “provies local people to enjoy” does not express the intended meaning, while “excessive amount of profit” is an unnatural phrase. Errors such as “bussinesses” and “manufatured” also affect accuracy. Aim for natural combinations such as “enable consumers to enjoy” and “make substantial profits,” and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and more developed structures, including a reason clause (“as it gives people a greater variety”) and a relative clause (“which will help them to grow larger”). The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation. For example, “an positive development” should use the correct article, and “It will directly or indirectly benefits” has an incorrect verb form. The opening of the second paragraph also has an unnecessary comma after “that,” while “people in sydney” needs appropriate capitalization. Review article use, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries, then check each sentence for a complete and grammatically consistent structure.
