Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, the issue of food production has attracted considerable attentioned. I beleive that it is a negative development, because when we do not produce the food, then the GDP of country will decrease. And the other reason is that, if we cannot produce food, then we will not get a fresh food.
One of the main reasons for the view point is that the certain percentage of GDP progress of the country depend on the food production. If a country is not able to produce food, It will buy the food from another countries that cost so expensive, which can decrease GDP index. For example, If we dicsuss about the wheat that is the general requirement of every person daily needs, if country cannot produced wheat locally then they purchease wheat from another country that cost so high.
Another important consideration is that if the food can not be produced locally the consumers canot purchased the fresh food, because the food is come from another countries through ships and it take to much time, so they cannot purchase fresh and also the taste of food will also change. The fresh and the stale food have different taste. For example, if you import the apples from another countries, then it take to much time to arrive in your market ,because the proccess is to long and it will become stale.
In conclusion, to buy food from supermarket is slightly good, but if you can say to stop production of the food locally is not the good habit, because it has only negative impact on development. so if we produce the food locally ,then it will be a positive development for the country.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear: you consider the availability of imported food a negative development, and you give two relevant reasons—possible economic effects and reduced freshness. The wheat and apple examples help illustrate these points. However, the response only partly addresses the question because it shifts between buying imported food and stopping local production, which are not the same issue. The claim that imports reduce GDP is also asserted rather than explained, and the conclusion introduces the idea that buying supermarket food is “slightly good,” which weakens your overall position. To develop the response further, explain the economic mechanism more carefully and acknowledge a benefit of international food choice before showing why you still consider the drawbacks greater.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Each body paragraph focuses on a separate reason, and signposts such as “One of the main reasons” and “Another important consideration” make the organisation easy to follow. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated conditional patterns beginning “if,” and some links between ideas are unclear. For example, the conclusion moves from saying supermarket purchases are “slightly good” to arguing that local production should not stop, without clearly resolving the contrast. Use a more direct sequence of claim, explanation and example in each paragraph, and make references such as “it” and “this” clearly identify the idea being discussed.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “food production,” “GDP,” “locally,” “import” and “stale.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less natural. For instance, “GDP progress” and “GDP index” do not clearly express the economic effect you intend, while “the general requirement of every person daily needs” is difficult to interpret. Spelling errors such as “beleive,” “dicsuss” and “purchease” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing trade and food quality, and check spelling and word forms carefully. This will make your argument clearer without requiring more complicated vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, particularly conditional structures such as “If a country is not able to produce food, it will buy the food from another countries.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, plurals and verb forms occur throughout. Examples include “the certain percentage … depend,” “it take to much time,” and “if country cannot produced wheat.” These patterns sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Practise forming accurate conditional sentences and check that subjects agree with verbs, that articles are used where needed, and that verbs follow the correct form after modal verbs. More reliable control of these structures would improve clarity.
