Student answer (Band 6.5)
Foods produced all over the world can be easily bought from supermarkets in many countries. In my opinion this is a positive development because consumers can have verities of choice and taste delicacies from all around the world as well as farmers producing the food can earn higher income due to export opportunities.
Foods from around the world provide consumers with various choices. When supermarkets sell food items from different countries, individuals can choose different items for their daily diet. For instance, Potato is the staple food ofIreland and availability of rice produced in other countries in supermarkets can provide the citizens with an opportunity to taste something different. Consequently, these foods can contribute to variation in nutrients and a healthier diet, while also giving a different taste from a different culture or a country.
Additionally, when foreign produced foods are in demand, the producers get the opportunity to earn higher through export. Most of the food exports are done by countries with agricultural economy and the food items are cheaper in the home country. As a result, when farmers can export the items, they earn comparatively higher. For example, watermelon produced in Bangladesh sells at 0.38 Euros per kilogram at home, whereas in Europe it can sell for 4 Euros per kilogram. This resultant higher income can improve the livelihood of the farmers.
In conclusion, nowadays, food produced in other countries is widely available in the supermarket is many countries and I think this is a highly positive development. This is because when wider choice of food is available to consumers it leads to vatiation in diets and nutritions as well as improves the livelihood of the producers in their home country with export opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you consider worldwide supermarket food a positive development. Both reasons are relevant and supported: consumers gain more choice, and exporting can raise farmers’ incomes. The Ireland-and-rice example illustrates dietary variety, while the Bangladesh watermelon price comparison gives the economic point concrete support. This addresses the task and extends the main ideas effectively. To strengthen the response further, develop the consumer-health claim with more precision: access to different foods may broaden a diet, but the claim that this necessarily produces “a healthier diet” needs explanation. You could also acknowledge a possible drawback briefly before explaining why the benefits outweigh it, making the evaluation more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs each develop a separate reason, and the conclusion restates the position. The progression within the paragraphs is generally logical, and signposting such as “Additionally,” “For instance,” and “As a result” helps readers follow the argument. The examples are placed where they support the relevant claims. Some linking is a little mechanical, however, and the conclusion repeats much of the introduction rather than synthesising the two arguments. The phrase “these foods” also has a slightly broad reference after several food types have been mentioned. Varying transitions and using more precise references would make cohesion more flexible and less noticeable.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including relevant expressions such as “staple food,” “export opportunities,” “agricultural economy,” and “livelihood.” These choices help communicate both consumer and producer benefits. However, attempts at more precise or less common wording sometimes lead to inaccurate forms or collocations: “verities of choice,” “taste delicacies,” “earn higher,” and “variation in nutrients” are not natural in these contexts. There are also spelling errors, including “vatiation” and “nutritions,” and “Potato” is unnecessarily capitalised. These do not prevent understanding, but they limit the accuracy and flexibility of the vocabulary. Prefer familiar, precise phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses with “because,” “when,” and “whereas,” and most ideas remain easy to understand. The sentence beginning “When supermarkets sell food items…” and the comparison of prices show attempts to express relationships between ideas. Some grammatical errors persist, though. In the conclusion, “food produced in other countries is widely available … is many countries” has an incorrect verb construction and preposition; “when wider choice of food is available” needs an article; and “the producers get the opportunity to earn higher” lacks a grammatical complement. The opening sentence of the second paragraph also runs “ofIreland” together. Review articles, sentence construction, and punctuation, while continuing to use complex forms.
