Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view that access to international supermarket food is negative, and you include relevant points about possible effects on health and local farmers. However, the response addresses the question only partially because the reasons are often unclear or insufficiently explained. For instance, the claim that supermarket food is “made by injections” is not explained or supported, and the example about stomach and brain pain does not clearly show how imported food causes these problems. You also acknowledge benefits, such as convenience and perceived quality, but do not clearly weigh them against your concerns. Develop two or three relevant reasons with specific, credible explanations, and maintain a clear position while discussing the opposing view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting disadvantages, a paragraph on benefits, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “On the other hand,” and “Overall” help signal these stages. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven, and several links between claims are difficult to follow. For example, the move from food being “made by injections” to hospital costs is not clearly explained, while “As result” introduces a point that repeats the preceding claim about quality. Some connectors are used mechanically, and references such as “that” in “that price is high” are unclear. Make each paragraph develop one main idea in a logical sequence, and use linking expressions only when the relationship between ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “local farmers,” “fresh food,” “quality,” and “detrimental,” so the reader can identify the general subject of your argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate enough to make ideas difficult to understand. Examples include “bestthings,” “medical food,” “made by injections,” and “local foods things.” Repetition of “best,” “food,” and “people” also limits precision. Aim to learn topic-specific collocations and check whether each phrase expresses your intended meaning; for example, distinguish food safety concerns from claims about freshness or nutritional quality. More accurate and varied wording would make your reasons clearer and more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and more complex forms, including “Although supermarkets provide fresh food but it negative impact on world” and “because they think their quality is best.” These attempts show an effort to connect ideas, but complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Problems include missing or incorrect articles and verbs (“This is negative development”; “it negative impact”), subject–verb agreement (“They are depend”), and sentence boundaries and capitalization (“Nowadays” and “people” are inconsistently capitalised). Practise building accurate basic clauses first, then combine them with one clear conjunction. Pay particular attention to complete verb phrases, agreement, articles, and punctuation between sentences.
