Student answer (Band 5.5)

In most of developing and development countries many people rely on supermarkets to buy produced food internationally. In my prespective it has a great impact on development.

On the one hand supermarkets are became great source of getting things which are widely available .Most of countries can not produce some vegetables or fruit or they do not have enough source to meet the needs of all population so, they have to import these things from other countries.

Moreover, supermarkets are makes people's life easier as they have all sort of things available in one place so that people do not have to go on different places to buy different items also many supermarkets are open 24 hours so people can get anything any time. Furthermore , it is a sustainable source of employment and provides alot of jobs if we go to a supermarket we see a great number of employees for the asistance of consumers which helps to balance the economy of every country whether developing or development countries.

On the other hand , aas every coin has two sides so supermarkrts also have some drawbacks such importing things from another countries can be very expensive some and they also have to pay tax on imported items so automatically imported things became expensive and people have to pay extra or some people just avoid buying such items.

To sum up, supermarkets makes peoples lives easier buy getting all things in one place and on the other hand ,for some people pays extra to afford such items which is major draw back of supermarkets.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall preference for the benefits of international food availability, and you include relevant points about access to foods that cannot be produced locally, convenience, employment, and the cost of imports. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening says the development has a “great impact” without stating whether it is positive or negative, and the conclusion mainly summarises rather than firmly evaluating the overall effect. Several points are asserted rather than explained—for example, the employment claim is not linked clearly to the availability of food from around the world. Develop fewer ideas with specific explanation or an example, and make your judgement explicit from the introduction through to the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, a paragraph presenting advantages, a paragraph introducing a drawback, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Furthermore,” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, the advantages are crowded into one long paragraph, while the contrast between the benefits and the cost drawback is not fully developed. Some connections are mechanical or unclear, particularly “so that” and “also” in the convenience sentence, and the final sentence combines both sides without a clear concluding judgement. Use clearer topic sentences, separate and sequence supporting points, and make references between ideas more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “import,” “available,” “employment,” “consumers,” and “economy.” There are also attempts at less basic phrasing, such as “a sustainable source of employment.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling errors make the writing less natural: “produced food internationally,” “source to meet the needs,” “all sort of things,” and “asistance” are examples. Repetition of “things” and “people” also reduces precision. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for international food trade and its effects, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a reason clause beginning “so” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, the range is limited, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are frequent enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “supermarkets are became” and “supermarkets are makes” use incorrect verb forms, while “some people just avoid buying such items” follows a sentence with an unclear grammatical structure. There are also run-on sentences and inconsistent punctuation. Practise building accurate complex sentences with one main clause and clearly attached supporting clauses, then check subject–verb agreement and verb forms.
