Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's time, most of the people can go to supermarkets to purchase their regular neccessities across the world. In my opinion, there is positive as much as negative development for the mentioned notion. In the forthcoming paragraphs, I have explained my support with reasonable justifications and examples.

First of all, taking into account, reason for the positive development is: By going to supermarkets customes can have more options to explore the foood items and also they get everything they want at one place. Seeing the food products in real can make choosy people quicker to select food items as they are clear about the price, expiry dates and the quantity.

Furthermore, spending time in supermarkets does not make a person feel bored. Consumers can go to supermarkets in their leisure time or after a very long working hours to freshen up their mind by change of the environment. For example, if any person who is tired of studying or their own work and they want to roam somewhere or they want different environment, so they can go supermakrkets and can also purchase the products they want. By this their mind will be refreshed to work again.

Now considering the negative development: Going to the supermarkets need more time of the custome instead they can order the same food products from the online store. Buying from an online store is more comfortable and time saving. Consumer can order the things they want even when they have a busy schedule. They don't need to go to supermarkets for food purchasing. For instance, if any person is doing their job and they feel like they have to eat something, so they can just order packaged foods from online stores like Blinkit and Zepto.

Moreover, most of the online stores provide 24/7 service unlike the supermarkets which have a closing time and also some supermarkets are off on weekends. So, if someone is going through midnight cravings, there is no need of going to supermarkets for the food, one can order it from where we are. So online stores are more comfortable to purchase any food products.

To recapitulate, there are merits as well as demerits of going to supermarket to purchase food products. It totally depends on the individual whether they want to go and purchase the food products offline or not. If any oerson has busy schedule so buying online producs is more relevant for them but if they want a change in their regular routine so they can go to supermarkets. If there is an emergency at midnight then one can order it through online stores.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear response that recognises both positive and negative aspects, and you support points with examples such as choosing products in person and ordering food through services like Blinkit and Zepto. However, the task is specifically about the availability of food produced all over the world, while most of your discussion concerns supermarkets versus online shopping, convenience, and leisure. This means the central issue is only partially addressed. Your position is also not fully decisive: “positive as much as negative” and the conclusion that it “totally depends” do not clearly establish whether you consider the development positive or negative. Focus on effects of global food access—for example, variety, year-round availability, cultural exchange, or impacts on local producers—and explain your overall judgement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for positive and negative points, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “Now considering the negative development,” and “To recapitulate” help readers follow the broad organisation. However, the progression is sometimes mechanical, and the paragraphs do not consistently develop the question’s central topic. The two positive paragraphs, for instance, focus on browsing and leisure rather than worldwide food production. Some links and references are awkward or unclear, as in “By this their mind will be refreshed,” and the conclusion repeats the online-versus-supermarket comparison rather than drawing together the main argument. Use clearer links between each claim and its explanation, and keep each paragraph focused on one relevant idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough vocabulary to communicate familiar ideas about shopping, including “expiry dates,” “leisure time,” “busy schedule,” and “midnight cravings.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the response less natural: “regular neccessities across the world,” “freshen up their mind by change of the environment,” and “food purchasing” are examples. Spelling errors such as “customes,” “foood,” “supermakrkets,” and “oerson” are also noticeable. Aim for precise vocabulary related to the actual topic, such as imported produce, seasonal availability, local farmers, and consumer choice. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations rather than translating phrases directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if any person is doing their job” and clauses beginning with “which.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but some sentence patterns are awkward or incomplete, and errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “Going to the supermarkets need more time” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “after a very long working hours” has an article and number mismatch. The sentence beginning “For example, if any person who is tired…” is not formed as a complete, clear conditional. Work on building accurate clauses before adding extra ideas, and check singular/plural agreement, articles, and punctuation. More controlled complex sentences would improve clarity.
