Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mr, Rambhai,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to inform you that I would like to reduce my working hours from the next month, because I registered in to part time course in Business Analyst. So, during my part time study it extremely challenging for me to work full time.
I would like arrange my schedule as per my part time study. Even though I am working remotly, the best suitable time is from Monday to Wednesday from 7 am to 5 pm, and during Thursday and Friday 7 am to 2 pm.
Fortunately, I have been working as a consultant and gathering client's information regards to business, but as a Business Analyst I would get get better peojects and also save company's fund by learning effective technique of cost cutting. Moreover, our company does not need to hire Senior Business Analyst for the future.
I would be glad if you could allow me to pursue my course during my on going service to the company.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three requested points and maintain a clear, polite request throughout. The reason for the change is stated directly: you have enrolled in a part-time Business Analyst course, and full-time work would be challenging alongside it. You also give a specific proposed schedule and explain potential benefits, including taking on better projects and helping reduce costs. These ideas are relevant and sufficiently extended to make the purpose clear. The employer benefit is the least developed part: explain more precisely how your new skills would be applied to current work, rather than relying mainly on the broad claim that the company may not need to hire a senior analyst. A little more detail there would make the support more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: you introduce the request and its reason, propose working hours, explain the benefits to the company, and close politely. Paragraphing helps distinguish these functions, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Even though” show an attempt to connect ideas. The schedule is easy to locate, although the contrast introduced by “Even though” is not fully clear, and “So” makes the reason-and-result link sound somewhat mechanical. The benefits paragraph also moves quickly from your current consulting work to future projects and hiring needs. To strengthen cohesion, use more precise links between these points and make the relationship between your remote work and proposed hours explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a workplace request, including relevant terms such as “part-time course,” “consultant,” “Business Analyst,” and “cost cutting.” The tone is generally appropriate and the intended meaning remains clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, for example “registered in to,” “best suitable time,” and “save company's fund.” There are also spelling or form errors such as “remotly” and “peojects,” which reduce precision. Aim to learn common workplace collocations as complete phrases and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise language for describing how your studies will improve your work would also help you express the employer benefit more convincingly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause with “because,” a concessive opening with “Even though,” and a conditional idea about future hiring. The message is understandable, but some grammatical errors remain across sentence patterns. For example, “I would like arrange” needs an infinitive marker, and “it extremely challenging” is missing a verb. The sentence beginning “Even though I am working remotely” does not form a clear grammatical contrast with the schedule that follows. There are also issues with articles and sentence punctuation, including the comma after “Mr” and the comma splice before “because.” Review verb patterns, complete clause structure, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
