Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the reason for the request, specifying the desired hours, and describing the benefits to the employer. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of how your studies benefit the employer could be more detailed to sound more professional. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the overall structure and depth of the arguments could be improved to better persuade your employer. You have successfully met all requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your request. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Firstly' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'either of the one day in to the evening shifts'. The transition between the request and the justification could be smoother. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be strengthened by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your points more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your request clearly. You use some relevant professional terms like 'licensed pharmacist' and 'relief pharmacist'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'chnage', 'delight' (instead of 'delighted'), 'stated' (instead of 'started'), and 'expensis'. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more accurate collocations and ensuring correct spelling of common professional terms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('i still wants', 'it allowes') and incorrect preposition usage ('in to the next fall'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization of 'I'. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the letter. To improve, you should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically verb forms and sentence structure, to ensure your writing is more polished and professional.
