Dear Cathy,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing regarding reducing my working hours so i can start my study.
I am working as CSA in your company and i am thinking to do CCA course which is provided by the company free of cost. I would like to switch to part time position from full time. This will help me to attend my classes and maintain my job as well. In this way i do not have to quite my job. I would like to do shifts on weekends as my classes are only on weekdays.
Moreover, my part-time studies will help me to know more about my work and will upgrade my status and wage as well. This is great opportunity for me to do this course to grow my career in this field. Although, i will get a certificate which can proof beneficial for me in future.
I will appreciate if you start my this process at your early convenience.
Yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You explained the reason for the request (to study), specified the desired hours (weekends), and described the benefits to the employer (upgrading skills and career growth). The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. To improve, ensure you expand slightly more on the specific benefits to the employer; for example, explain how the CCA course will specifically improve your performance in your current role as a Customer Service Assistant (CSA). Overall, the response is clear and fulfills the requirements of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening, body paragraphs, and a closing. You have used some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'Although' to link ideas. However, the use of 'Although' at the beginning of the final sentence in the second paragraph is grammatically incorrect in this context. Additionally, the transition between paragraphs could be smoother. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'part-time position' and 'career growth'. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'quite' instead of 'quit', 'proof' instead of 'prove', and 'my this process' which is awkward phrasing. While these errors do not impede communication, they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on common collocations and proofreading for small spelling errors that can affect the professional tone of your correspondence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several recurring grammatical errors, such as the failure to capitalize the pronoun 'I' throughout the text, and issues with article usage (e.g., 'start my study' should be 'start my studies'). There are also minor errors in verb tense and word order, such as 'I am thinking to do' (should be 'I am thinking of doing'). While these errors are frequent, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your request. Increasing your control over basic grammar and punctuation will significantly improve your score.
