Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: explaining the reason for the request, specifying the desired hours, and describing the benefits to the employer. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention the course will help with 'leadership qualities,' you could have provided a more specific example of how this directly applies to your current role to make the argument more persuasive. The letter is clear and the purpose is immediately understood, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Therefore' and 'Once,' which help the flow of information. However, the paragraphing is slightly disjointed; the second paragraph is quite short, and the transition between the request for hours and the benefits of the study could be smoother. Some sentences are a bit choppy, and the use of punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. Improving the variety of linking words would help the text flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'responsibilities,' 'professional course,' and 'consideration.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'contribute my time for studying' (better: 'dedicate my time to studying') and 'at the work' (better: 'at work'). While you successfully convey your meaning, the vocabulary is somewhat functional and lacks the precision or sophistication required for a higher band score. Expanding your use of collocations related to professional requests would enhance your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'in the company from past 2 years'), incorrect verb forms ('Once i have complete my course'), and punctuation errors (e.g., missing spaces after periods and commas). Additionally, there are minor subject-verb agreement issues and capitalization errors (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your writing.
