Dear Manager,
I am writing to inform you regarding to reduce my working hours with the company, Tim Hortons, due to my part time study .
As you know that that , I was working as a full time due to saving funds for my paramedic program . A week ago , I enrolled in paramedic program and I am expecting it to be started with in 2 weeks from today.
However, I would like to continue working here ,especially in the morning hours. I would be able to start my work earliest at 6 am in the morning up to till 10 am through out the weekdays according to my schedule Unfortunately , I have practical sessions on weekends at school. Hence, I won't be able to work during this time.
I believe that I would be more dedicated and trust worthy during my part time working hours ,because I really enjoy working here in morning time.
I look forward to hearing from you with a positive answer.
Yours sincerely ,
kee.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly state the reason for the request (paramedic program), specify the desired hours (6 am to 10 am on weekdays), and attempt to explain the benefit to the employer. However, the third point regarding the benefit to the employer is underdeveloped; you mention being 'dedicated and trust worthy,' but this is a personal trait rather than a professional benefit to the business. To improve, you could explain how your studies might bring new skills to the workplace or how your consistent morning availability ensures reliable coverage during peak hours.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used to separate the different points, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'However' and 'Hence' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. Some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and less dependent on simple conjunctions.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your needs clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'paramedic program' and 'practical sessions.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'inform you regarding to reduce' (should be 'inform you of my request to reduce') and 'started with in 2 weeks' (should be 'start within'). The range is somewhat limited, and you rely on basic descriptors. Incorporating more precise professional terminology would enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. For example, 'I was working as a full time' contains an unnecessary article, and 'As you know that that' includes a redundant repetition. There are also issues with preposition usage and verb tense consistency, such as 'expecting it to be started'. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of sentence construction and article usage.
