Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to express my requisition for reducing my work hours at job so I can study for licensing exam. I would like to request your assistance in granting me few days if you find me eligible doing so.

Currently, I am working as Pharmacy Assistant at your Pharmacy and as an assistant I am constraint to do only limited work. However, if I become a licensed Pharmacist I could do the more advanced task and handle patient at clinical level. I would like to work shorter hours because It will assists me to focus on my studies. Moreover, In my perspective if I will spend more time in reading I could easily clear my exam.

I would like to mention my expected work hours which are from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm. I want Friday, Saturday & Sunday off for my studies. In addition, once I become registered Pharmacist I can continue working at this place and positively contribute in the company's growth. For instance, I can work as clinical Pharmacist where I would be dealing with clinical data of the patients can possibly help them to manage their medications. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via phone call. My cell number is [redacted phone].

Yours faithfully,

Foram P.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining the reason for the request, specifying the desired hours, and outlining the benefits to your employer. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a supervisor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For example, while you mention that becoming a licensed pharmacist would allow you to handle more advanced tasks, this could be expanded further to show a deeper understanding of the professional value you would bring to the pharmacy. The letter is well-structured and clearly communicates your intent, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter follows a logical progression, moving from the request to the justification and finally to the proposed schedule. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate these distinct ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Moreover', and 'In addition' to link your thoughts. While these are functional, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking phrases to connect sentences more fluidly. The referencing is generally clear, and the overall structure is easy to follow, which ensures that the reader can understand your request without confusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'licensing exam', 'clinical level', and 'registered Pharmacist'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'requisition for reducing' is slightly unnatural; 'request to reduce' would be more standard. Similarly, 'constraint to do' should be 'constrained to do' or 'limited to'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the conditional 'if I become a licensed Pharmacist I could do...'. There are several grammatical errors, including 'granting me few days' (should be 'a few days'), 'as job' (should be 'at my job'), and 'In my perspective' (should be 'From my perspective'). Additionally, there are some issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on proofreading for small errors in articles and prepositions.
