Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining the reason for the reduction, specifying the desired hours, and describing the benefits to the employer. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention that your studies will help with 'communication' and 'teamwork', these points are not fully explained or linked to your specific role. To reach a higher band, try to provide a more concrete example of how your new skills will directly improve your current workplace performance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical structure, with clear paragraphing that separates the purpose, the request, and the benefits. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and sometimes repetitive. Phrases like 'Apart from the working hours' and 'for example' are used, but the flow between sentences could be smoother. Some transitions are missing, making the text feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to previous nouns would help the overall progression of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your request clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'part-time study' and 'Business Management'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and spelling errors, such as 'schedual' (schedule), 'profitablily' (profitability), and 'for requesting' (to request). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on simple descriptors. To improve, focus on using more precise professional terminology and ensure you proofread for basic spelling accuracy, as these errors occasionally distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an ability to use simple sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter. Common issues include incorrect verb forms ('due to i start'), missing articles ('in the course called masters'), and capitalization errors ('i' instead of 'I'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the text from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization. Attempting more complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
