Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: it explains the reason for the request, specifies the desired working hours, and describes the benefits to the employer. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal request to a supervisor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of how the studies will benefit the employer is a bit vague, relying on general statements like 'I can implement learning from my classe'. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples of how your chemical engineering studies will directly improve your performance or contribute to the company's projects.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'However', 'moreover', and 'as', to link your thoughts. However, the use of these devices is sometimes slightly mechanical or imprecise, such as the transition 'that why I want my schedule to be updated'. Additionally, some sentences are slightly disjointed, and the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your sentences more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant professional terms like 'chemical laboratory technician' and 'practical experience'. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'classe' instead of 'classes', 'convient' instead of 'convenient', and 'Morning's' with an unnecessary apostrophe. These errors do not impede communication, but they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring the correct spelling of common professional terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation, capitalization, and verb forms. Examples include 'I see my self' (myself), 'my classe in to my role be perform better' (which is grammatically incorrect), and inconsistent capitalization of days of the week. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your intent, they occur frequently enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range.
