Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You explained your reason for wanting to reduce hours (to focus on part-time study), specified the hours (20 hours a week), and described the benefits to your employer (gaining knowledge in AI and food safety to share with colleagues). The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. To reach a higher band, ensure your ideas are developed with more precision; for example, explaining exactly how the AI knowledge applies to your specific workplace would strengthen the argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Afterwards' and 'Ultimetaly', although some of these transitions are slightly awkward or misused. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'this kind of knowledge') clearly points back to the previously mentioned concepts to improve the flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'enlightened', 'distinction', and 'technologies'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'more deeper knowledge' (should be 'deeper knowledge') and 'future aspects' (should be 'future prospects'). Spelling errors like 'coullages' (colleagues) and 'Ultimetaly' (Ultimately) also occur. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'The course is focuses on' (should be 'The course focuses on') and 'I am writing to inform you regarding I would like to' (should be 'I am writing to inform you that I would like to'). Additionally, there are issues with verb tense and subject-verb agreement, such as 'passed with distinction' (should be 'pass with distinction'). Increasing your control over basic sentence construction will help improve your score.
