Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points: the reason for the request, the specific hours desired, and the benefits to the employer. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The explanation regarding the benefits to the employer is quite general, and the request for hours is slightly vague, as you mention reducing two hours but do not specify which part of the day you would prefer to leave early or arrive late. To improve, ensure you provide more concrete details to help your employer understand the practical implications of your request.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as 'in additionaly' and 'if when I leave'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more naturally. While the overall message is clear, the lack of sophisticated cohesive devices keeps this in the mid-range.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your needs, but it is quite basic and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'complate' instead of 'complete', 'numouras' for 'numerous', and 'compair' for 'compare'. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on accurate spelling and using more precise professional terminology appropriate for a formal letter to a manager.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently struggle with verb forms and prepositions, for example: 'in regard to request about to reduce' and 'after complated my masters'. There are also issues with sentence construction, such as 'I know if when I leave this company there are numouras applican you have'. These errors are frequent and occasionally require the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning, though they do not completely impede communication.
