Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt: the reason for the request, the specific hours desired, and the benefits to the employer. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a supervisor. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how the marketing course will benefit the company is repetitive and lacks specific detail. To reach a higher band, you should expand on how the specific skills learned in the course could be applied to your current role, rather than simply stating that it will 'boost sales'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each addressing a specific part of the prompt. There is a clear progression of ideas from the request to the details and finally the benefits. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'As you know' is used twice in close proximity). Some transitions, such as 'Therefore' and 'Thus', are used correctly, but the overall flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'strategies', 'techniques', and 'inform'. However, there are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'marketting' (marketing), 'interest' (interested), and 'take admission' (enrolled). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on correct spelling and using more precise collocations, such as 'enrolling in a course' instead of 'take admission'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including tense inconsistencies ('I have been interest' instead of 'I am interested') and missing articles ('the company', 'the marketing course'). Additionally, there are punctuation issues, such as the incorrect use of commas and the capitalization of 'marketting'. While the meaning is generally clear, these frequent errors indicate a lack of control over complex structures, which prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
