Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained the reason for the request (pursuing education), specified the desired working hours (11:15 am onwards), and described the benefits to the employer (improved skills in marketing and decision-making). The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a boss. To improve, you could expand slightly on how the marketing studies specifically apply to your current admin role to make the argument even more persuasive. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use cohesive devices such as 'Therefore', 'Additionally', and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more distinct to separate the explanation of the request from the benefits. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between the explanation of your current role and the request for reduced hours could be smoother. Overall, the message is easy to follow throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'pursue', 'productivity', and 'responsibilities'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'I have keen interest in study' (should be 'a keen interest in my studies') and 'wonderful scope in future' (should be 'great potential for the future'). While these errors do not impede communication, using more precise collocations would elevate your score. You successfully convey your meaning, but the vocabulary remains somewhat basic in places.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical slips, such as 'I am working in your company' (should be 'I work'), 'As I am full-time employee' (missing article 'a'), and 'Looking forward to hear from you' (should be 'hearing'). Additionally, 'Your's faithfully' is incorrect; it should be 'Yours faithfully'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your request. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
