Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to request for reduce my working hours as I have recently joined the French speaking course. My course timing is from 5pm to 10 pm.
I would like to work in the morning shift from 8am to 3pm so that I would get enough time for my study. Apart from this, if there is any urgency I also complete project on weekends.
I believe this is not only important for my growth but also beneficial for company growth. As I am working as a admin job here, so I have to deal to French speaking customers, so most of the time we need to translate to talk with them. By learning french, It would be easy for me and company to complete our work easily and efficiently.
If you need any other queries we can discuss with each other. I look forward to your prompt response.
Your faithfully,
Monu kumar

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explain the reason for the request, specify the desired working hours, and describe the benefits to the employer. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the explanation of how your studies benefit the company could be more professional and detailed. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully extended and that the tone remains consistently formal throughout the entire piece.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your request. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Apart from this' and 'As I am working', to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. Some transitions feel a bit abrupt, and the connection between the request and the justification could be smoother. The use of paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, but more varied linking words would improve the overall cohesion of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your request clearly. You use relevant terms like 'working hours', 'part-time', and 'efficiently'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'request for reduce' (should be 'request to reduce') and 'deal to French speaking' (should be 'deal with'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your range to include more sophisticated professional collocations would help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'I also complete project' (missing article 'a' or plural 'projects'), 'it would be easy for me and company' (missing article 'the'), and 'If you need any other queries' (the query is the question, not the need). Additionally, the closing 'Your faithfully' is incorrect; it should be 'Yours faithfully'. These errors occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score, though they do not cause significant confusion.
