Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the reason for the request (enrolling in a graphic design course), specified the desired working hours (1pm to 5pm), and articulated the benefits to your employer regarding improved editing skills and creative output. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a supervisor. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To reach a higher band, ensure that your opening and closing salutations are consistent with the level of formality required, and consider expanding slightly on how the new skills will be integrated into your current workflow.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the request, which makes the letter easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'So', though the transition between sentences could be smoother in places. For example, the sentence 'As my classes are from 9am to 12pm' is a fragment that should be joined to the previous sentence to improve flow. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the letter maintains a consistent, professional tone throughout.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, such as 'compulsory attendance', 'simultaneously', and 'effectively'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'request to changing' (should be 'request to change') and 'get more benefits' (which is slightly repetitive). You also use 'advance graphics' instead of the correct adjective form 'advanced'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word forms and collocations to reach a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'I would be appreciated' is incorrect; it should be 'I would appreciate it'. There are also issues with article usage and verb forms, such as 'easy for attend' (should be 'easy to attend'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives after adjectives.
