Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly explained the reason for the request (postgraduate studies), specified the desired hours (8:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday to Friday), and articulated the benefits to your employer, such as improved leadership and analytical skills. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning, and the ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements. You have maintained a consistent and professional position throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a formal closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the request, which aids readability. You have used some cohesive devices such as 'As the course requires', 'Ideally', and 'Not only... but also' to link ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall progression of ideas is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a band 7.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'postgraduate course', 'strategic decision-making', and 'key responsibilities'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'programe', 'devlop', 'mu', 'complet', 'efficently', 'belive', 'benificial', 'stratergic', and 'convience'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading your work for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations to enhance the professional tone of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'I am confident that I will be able to complete my key responsibilities efficiently'. There are several grammatical slips, including missing articles ('a postgraduate course'), subject-verb agreement issues ('the course require'), and punctuation errors (missing spaces after periods). Additionally, the closing 'Your's Sincerley' contains both a punctuation and a spelling error. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these minor errors indicates that you need to pay closer attention to basic grammatical accuracy and punctuation rules to reach a higher band.
