Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained your need to reduce hours for study, specified your availability, and attempted to explain how your studies would benefit the employer. However, the explanation regarding the benefit to the employer is somewhat weak and slightly confusing; you focused more on how the job benefits you rather than how your new skills would specifically add value to the company. To improve, ensure that your arguments are directly relevant to the employer's perspective, such as mentioning how your new knowledge could improve your efficiency or contribute to team projects.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'not only... but also', which help the flow of ideas. However, the paragraphing is somewhat disjointed, and some transitions feel mechanical. The connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of the letter. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that ideas within paragraphs are linked more naturally to avoid a list-like feel.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it is quite basic and repetitive. You use phrases like 'do study' and 'assist of work', which are not natural collocations. There are also some errors in word choice, such as 'could not overlooked' (should be 'should not be overlooked'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to professional requests and academic pursuits, and focus on using correct collocations to express your ideas more fluently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the letter, including issues with verb tenses ('I am doing study'), articles ('in university Canada west'), and sentence structure ('these days can I work only 24 hours'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are noticeable and occur in both simple and complex structures. You should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs. Practicing sentence construction will help you reduce these errors and improve the overall accuracy of your writing.
