Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points, but the development is insufficient. While you explain the need to reduce hours and specify the requested shift, the explanation of how your studies benefit the employer is unclear and irrelevant. You mention that other employees prefer morning shifts, but you do not explain how your specific studies would add value to the company. Furthermore, the response is under the 150-word minimum, which significantly impacts the task completion. To improve, you must expand on the professional benefits of your education, such as how new skills could help the business, and ensure you meet the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter lacks formal structure and paragraphing. It is written as a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; for example, the transition between your study schedule and the benefit to the employer is abrupt and confusing. To improve, you should use clear paragraph breaks for each point (introduction, reason, requested hours, benefits, and closing) and use linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' to connect your sentences logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'work' and 'studdy'. There are several spelling errors, including 'studdy' (study), 'collage' (college), 'morinng' (morning), and 'sift' (shift). The range of vocabulary is limited, which hinders your ability to express your request in a professional, formal tone suitable for a letter to a manager. To improve, focus on learning professional collocations and ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. There is a lack of punctuation, such as missing full stops and commas, which makes the text feel like a run-on sentence. You also struggle with verb forms and sentence structure, such as 'this is also effect my studdy' instead of 'this also affects my studies'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. You need to work on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of punctuation to improve clarity.
