Dear ....................................,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter to reduce the office hours as I am also enrolled in the part time course at Ontario Tech University in Master of Business Analytic and Artificial Intelligence.
As, I am working on the project for the comapny for foriegn employee where my role is to connect with them for just 1 day in a week and my college schedule is 3 days in a week. So, please can I opt in for hybrid work if possible?
I can visit the office on anytime at Monday,Friday or weekend. Apart form this day I am having my classes for the course usually from morning 10 to afternoon 2. Moreover I can continue my work after 2 as well for joining the meeting if I get hybrid work. My course can greatly contribute to our currrent project where we can analyses the product which we can predict before the festival start to stock up. So, we cannot lose our stock in half day during the festivak and we have to reorder it and it creates a huge mess in inventory and loss of customers as well.
I am hoping that you will surely grant my premission where I can work with combination of my academic.
Waiting for your response.
Your faithfully,
Shivam Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly state the reason for the request, specify the desired working hours, and explain the benefits of your studies to the employer. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat hindered by unclear phrasing. For instance, the explanation of how your studies benefit the company is a bit convoluted, particularly the section regarding inventory management and festival stock. While the purpose is clear, the explanation lacks the professional polish required for a higher band. To improve, ensure that your arguments are presented in a more structured and logical manner, focusing on how your specific skills will directly improve company efficiency.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive feature. However, the logical flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For example, the use of 'As, I am working' and 'Apart form this day' feels slightly disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Apart from this', the overall progression of ideas could be smoother. The referencing is generally clear, but the connection between your academic schedule and the proposed hybrid work arrangement could be more explicitly linked to ensure the reader follows your logic without effort.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'enrolled', 'hybrid work', and 'inventory'. However, there are several spelling errors ('comapny', 'foriegn', 'festivak', 'premission') and some awkward word choices, such as 'combination of my academic'. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, but they do indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise professional terminology and ensure that your spelling is accurate, as these small slips detract from the overall professional tone of the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing this letter to reduce the office hours' (which implies you want to reduce the office's hours rather than your own), 'on anytime at Monday', and 'I am having my classes'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally affect the clarity of your request. While the meaning remains understandable, the lack of consistent control over basic grammar and punctuation prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
