Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Christine,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to request you to change my working schedule, as I have enrol my part time studies and is difficult to manage both study and full-time work.
I am working at 'Physiocare' clinic as a Physiotherapy Assistant since two years, and right now I have enrol in a part-time study course to appear for an exam to become a registered physiotherapist. For that I would like to update my working hours from 40 hours per week to 25-27 hours per week. Moreover, it is hetic to work for full-time and simultaneously studying, as I am able to concentrate more if I have balanced hours in both.
To add to this, preapring to become registered physiotherapist takes a lot of courage. It also depend on the surrounding environment as well as the bystanders, I am grateful about learning a lot from my workplace and the guidance from senior physiotherapist. This will assist me in performing my practial exam on top of my part-time studies.
After becoming registered physoiotherapist, it is win-win from both sides. I can practice in your clinic which reduces caseload, and do assesment for newly hired physiotherapy assistant to carry-on with the treatment protocol.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the bullet points provided in the prompt. You successfully explained why you want to reduce your working hours (to study part-time for your registered physiotherapist exam), stated the hours you would like to work (25-27 hours per week), and described how this benefits your employer (reduced caseload and assistance with training newly hired assistants). However, the development of ideas in some areas is slightly repetitive and informal, for instance, mentioning multiple times how hectic it is to balance work and study. There are also several unfinished thoughts, such as the incomplete final sentence ('Please let me know the chnges in schedule you'). Nevertheless, the letter fulfils the communicative purpose appropriately and covers all required prompt elements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is structured with appropriate paragraphs for an informal or semi-formal workplace request, beginning with a proper salutation and a clear opening statement. Ideas are arranged logically, moving from the request and reasoning into specific benefits for the clinic. However, cohesive devices are at times basic or mechanical, and referencing can be unclear, such as the phrase 'It also depend on the surrounding environment as well as the bystanders' where the connection to the preceding context is weak. Additionally, paragraph transitions lack smooth flow, and the abrupt ending due to the unfinished final sentence disrupts the overall cohesion of the closing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your lexical range is adequate for the task, successfully handling workplace vocabulary related to physiotherapy and scheduling. You attempted some less common phrases such as 'treatment protocol' and 'win-win'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'enrol' instead of 'enrolled', 'hetic' instead of 'hectic', 'preapring' instead of 'preparing', 'depend' instead of 'depends', and 'physoiotherapist' instead of 'physiotherapist'. These errors demonstrate that while your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, control over precise word forms and spelling needs improvement to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You utilized a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at grammatical variety with structures like 'As I am working at... and right now I have...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense usage and agreement, such as 'as I have enrol my part time studies' instead of 'as I have enrolled in my part-time studies', and 'is since two years' instead of 'have been working... for two years'. Punctuation and sentence construction errors are also apparent, most notably in the final sentence which trails off completely incomplete. These errors occasionally cause slight strain for the reader.
