Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the main purpose of the letter, but it only partially covers all the bullet points with limited and under-developed ideas. While you mention why you want to reduce your working hours for a salesperson course, the description of which hours you would like to work is slightly confused, stating you want to work less in the morning because you attend online classes in the evening, yet later offering to assist in the evening. Furthermore, the benefit to the employer is restricted to a vague mention of boosting sales and applying for a higher post rather than detailing tangible operational advantages. Additionally, the length requirement of 150 words is not met as the text falls two words short.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation attempted, but the letter lacks a clear overall progression and proper paragraphing structure. The text is essentially written as a single dense block of text, except for the greeting and sign-off, which disrupts the logical flow. Cohesive devices are very limited, repetitive, or inadequate, relying on basic conjunctions like 'and', 'as', and 'furthermore', often strung together in long, run-on sentences without appropriate punctuation. Referencing and paragraph boundaries are not managed sufficiently, making the overall arrangement somewhat difficult for the reader to follow smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, containing noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. There are frequent word choice and spelling inaccuracies, such as 'workning' instead of working, 'ablities' instead of abilities, and 'convientely' instead of conveniently. You attempt some less common terms like 'enhance my ablities' and 'boost up', but awkward collocations and spelling mistakes mean the lexical control remains basic. To improve, you need to focus on correct word forms, appropriate prepositions in collocations, and careful proofreading to eliminate spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The grammar demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple or overly convoluted complex attempts that become faulty. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, and punctuation, such as 'I would like to request you about ,to reduce' and 'im doing part time study'. Punctuation is particularly weak, with missing capitalisation, inappropriate comma placements, and run-on clauses linked incorrectly. These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the writing from achieving a higher level of accuracy. To progress, you should work on separating your thoughts into distinct, grammatically correct sentences and improving control over auxiliary verbs.
