Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three requested points and maintains a clear, appropriate purpose. You explain that you want to study marketing, specify weekday availability from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and describe how learning about customer needs and technological changes could help the company. These details make the request relevant and reasonably well supported. The benefit to the employer is clear, although it remains somewhat general: you could explain more specifically how the new knowledge might improve a project, customer research, or marketing decisions. The course advertisement and its price are less important to the request, so using that space to develop the workplace benefits would make the response more focused and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: it introduces the request, explains the reason, gives a proposed schedule, and then discusses benefits to the employer. Paragraphing helps distinguish these points, and signposts such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore” make the sequence easy to follow. However, the linking is somewhat mechanical, and the repeated sequencing words do not always show the relationship between ideas. For example, the course details and the explanation of why marketing knowledge matters could be connected more smoothly. The final request would also benefit from a brief, direct closing sentence asking your boss to consider the proposed arrangement. More varied transitions and clearer links between supporting details would strengthen the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the topic, including relevant terms such as “marketing course,” “competition,” “customer needs,” and “technology.” There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “achieve our desired goals.” However, several word-choice and collocation problems make the language less natural, including “focus to my part time study program,” “increase in competition,” and “do over time.” Spelling errors such as “ckurse,” “oyr,” and “hesring” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding your main points, but they limit precision and control. Aim to learn common word partnerships and proofread carefully, especially for spelling and the correct form of familiar expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes both simple sentences and attempts at more complex structures, for example, “I think this course is very beneficial for me because…” and “due to increase in competition I feel it will be a great opportunity…”. The meaning is generally clear, and some sentence patterns are handled successfully. However, some grammatical errors remain in articles, verb forms, agreement, and sentence construction. For instance, “Hero School provide” needs subject–verb agreement, while “the key points … which is” has an agreement mismatch. In “I am able to work at 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM,” the time range is not expressed with the correct preposition. Review these patterns and check each sentence for agreement and complete, natural grammatical structures.
