Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Paras sir,
I am writing this letter to request you for reducing my working hours from full time to part time as I would like to persuade with my studies.
I am planning take a part time course of buisness analyst for my further studies. To focus on my studies, I would like to make cetrain changes in my working schedule. I am willing to work in the morning shifts and also on the weekend, as my classes would be conducted in the evening sessions on weekdays. Although, this will be giving less time for work but even this schdedule will be providing enough time to go home and get preapre for my upcoming class.
This course is not only beneficial for my career but also gonna be great opportunity for our company. As we have been looking for a candidate for business analyst roles from longer period of time and after completion of this course, I will able fullfil all the requirement for the vacant position, even our company will be getting an inhouse candidate for this role.
I hope you will try to understand my situation and allow me work part time untill completion of my course.
I look forward for your positive revert on this request.
Your Faithfully,
krishnkant.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three requested points and maintain a clear, polite request throughout. You explain that you want to study a business-analysis course, specify morning shifts and weekend work, and connect the qualification to a vacant analyst role in the company. The employer benefit is particularly relevant because you explain that the company could fill the position internally. These ideas are extended enough to make your purpose clear, although the proposed arrangement could be more precise—for example, state the exact start and finish times or the number of hours you are requesting. The reason for studying could also be linked more explicitly to your longer-term career goals. Overall, the letter fulfils its purpose and supports its main points with relevant detail.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression: you make the request, explain your study plans and preferred schedule, describe the benefit to the company, and close by asking for approval. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and links such as “Although” and “not only…but also” show an attempt to connect ideas flexibly. The schedule paragraph is somewhat crowded, however, and the contrast introduced by “Although” is not completed smoothly. The final two sentences also repeat the request for a positive response. To strengthen the flow, separate the explanation of your study timetable from the practical work arrangement, and use a concise closing that does not restate the same point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant workplace and study vocabulary, including “working hours,” “part-time course,” “business analyst roles,” and “vacant position,” so the reader can understand the main message. However, noticeable spelling errors and inaccurate or informal word choices reduce precision: “buisness,” “cetrain,” “schdedule,” and “preapre” are misspelled, while “persuade with my studies” and “positive revert” are not natural expressions in this context. “Gonna” is too informal for a letter to a manager, and “inhouse” would be clearer as “in-house.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common professional collocations, such as “pursue further studies” and “receive a response.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and complex sentences, including the conditional-style explanation of your schedule and the sentence beginning “As we have been looking…”. These structures help convey relationships between your studies and work. However, errors occur in several sentence patterns and sometimes make the wording awkward. For example, “I am planning take” needs an infinitive marker, “I will able fullfil” is missing an auxiliary construction, and “allow me work” needs “to” before the verb. There are also problems with articles and prepositions, as in “a great opportunity” and “look forward to your response.” Review verb patterns after “plan” and “allow,” and check each sentence for a complete verb phrase and necessary articles.
