Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you explain that your class schedule overlaps with work, request a change from nine-hour to seven-hour shifts, and describe how your BBA studies could improve your business skills and bring new ideas to the job. The purpose of the letter is clear and the benefits to the employer are relevant. However, some details are less fully developed: you do not specify the actual hours or days you would prefer to work, and the benefits such as “accuracy” and using artificial intelligence are mentioned without explaining how they would help the employer. Adding these specifics would make the request more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: the opening states the purpose, the first main paragraph explains the schedule request, the next describes potential workplace benefits, and the closing politely asks for assistance. Connectors such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” help signal the progression. At times, however, the linking feels mechanical, and the relationship between ideas is not always clear—for example, “accuracy and use of artificial intelligence” is listed without showing how these follow from the course. The long spacing and inconsistent paragraph presentation also distract from the organisation. Use clear paragraph breaks and connect each benefit explicitly to your employer’s needs.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “working hours,” “schedule,” “business skills,” and “modern ideas,” so the message remains understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “overlapping” and “artificial intelligence.” However, several spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions reduce control: “wrriting,” “cource,” “im,” and “best regard” should be corrected, while “shrink my hours” is too informal for a letter to a boss. Phrases such as “proper time to prepare for it” and “grow the business sales” are also awkward. Choose accurate, professional collocations and proofread spelling to make the vocabulary more natural and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You communicate the main request using a mix of simple and more complex forms, including “The main reason for the change is…” and “which would enable me to…”. Most sentences can be understood, but some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. For example, “I want to decrease my working hours owing to study part time” needs a clearer verb pattern, and “currently im doing 9 hours shift” has problems with the article and sentence punctuation. In “these will help grow the business sales,” the sentence structure is incomplete or awkward. Capitalise “I” and sentence beginnings, use apostrophes in contractions, and check articles and verb patterns. More consistently accurate sentences would strengthen the letter.
