Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three required points and maintains a clear, polite request. You explain that you want to pursue a postgraduate diploma in Human Resource Management, specify that you would prefer to work from Friday to Sunday, and describe benefits to the company, including stronger recruitment skills and improved productivity. These details make the purpose clear and support your request. The employer-benefit section is particularly relevant, although the link between the course and practical gains for the company could be explained more precisely—for example, how the training would improve your current customer-service work or support recruitment needs. Overall, the response develops the task well; a more specific explanation of the employer’s direct benefit would make the case even more convincing.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: it introduces the request, explains the reason, proposes a schedule, and then outlines benefits before closing politely. Paragraphing helps the reader distinguish these stages, and connectors such as “Therefore,” “Firstly,” and “Further” make relationships between ideas visible. This is a coherent arrangement, with some flexibility in linking ideas. However, a few transitions feel mechanical or interrupt the flow, particularly “Elucidating the details why…” and “Well,”. The schedule paragraph also moves quickly from the college timetable to the proposed workdays, so the connection could be stated more directly. Use natural transitions and make each paragraph’s opening sentence clearly introduce its main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to study and employment, including “post graduate diploma,” “recruitment and selection process,” and “productivity.” These choices help communicate the professional context. However, several inaccurate or unnatural expressions make the wording less clear and controlled, such as “request you for minimising,” “broden of horizen,” “bestow me with this opportunity,” and “proliferate my productivity.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “persue,” “egar,” and “internership,” are also noticeable. Some ambitious vocabulary is used where a simpler, more natural phrase would be more effective. Focus on accurate collocations and spelling, and choose professional but familiar wording rather than formal expressions that do not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple statements and attempts at longer, complex sentences, for example the sentence beginning “Since i egar to acquire…” and the explanation of how the course could support workplace performance. This shows an effort to vary sentence structure. However, many sentences contain errors in clause construction, verb forms, articles, or agreement, which sometimes make the reader pause. For instance, “I am writing this letter to request you for…” has an incorrect grammatical pattern, while “Since i egar to acquire…” is not a complete clause as written. There are also errors in “i am graduated” and “this study would certainly beneficial.” Practise building complete clauses and checking verb forms, articles, and sentence boundaries; this will make your ideas easier to follow.
