Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, an increasing number of people have developed a habit of visiting famous places primarily to take photographs rather than appreciating their sorroundings. People want to travel light but their pomp and show continues. This phenomenon is largerly driven by social media and desire for becoming apple of the eye. In my opinion, this is a predominantly negative trend because it overlaps the true meaning of tourism.
There are several reasons behind this growing trend. First and foremost, social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook have significantly influenced people's behaviour. Nowadays, many individuals are keen to show off their lifestyles and keep up with the latest trends by posting breathtaking holiday pictures. In addition to, snap up has become a way of seeking attention and recognition among youth. As a result, people often become so preoccupied with capturing the perfect shot that they fail to take in the beauty and cultural significance of the places they visit.
I believe this is a negative trend for several reasons. To begin with, travlling should be about exploring unfamiliar cultures and unique experiences. However, people who constantly focus on their cameras tend to miss out meaningful experiences. Taking photographs and posting on social media could help you in earning money and I believe this is the only positive point of doing this excessively. But this activity should be adopt by professionals. Moreover, excessive snap up can sometimes disturb other visitors and continue to overcrowding at popular attraction places.
In conclusion, although social media has encouraged people to document their journeys, their growing obsession with taking photographs has overshadowed the real purpose of travelling. people should strike a balance between capturing memories and enjoying the moment, rather than letting their cameras get in the way of absolute experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a clear view that the trend is predominantly negative. The explanation that social media encourages people to display their lifestyles is relevant, and you identify missed cultural experiences and disruption to other visitors as consequences. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that earning money is “the only positive point” is not developed, and the suggestion that photography should be done by professionals is not clearly justified. The reasons for the trend could also be broadened beyond seeking attention, while the effects on tourism would benefit from a specific example. Develop each main idea with a clearer explanation or illustration to make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph presenting your evaluation, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “First and foremost,” “To begin with,” and “Moreover” helps readers follow the progression, and the central position remains consistent. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some flexibility in linking ideas. However, a few connections are awkward or unclear: “In addition to, snap up…” does not form a clear link, and the shift from missed experiences to earning money feels abrupt. The conclusion also repeats the main point without adding much synthesis. Use cohesive phrases that express the precise relationship between ideas, and make transitions between supporting points more deliberate.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “cultural significance,” “preoccupied,” “recognition,” and “overshadowed,” which helps communicate your ideas. However, noticeable spelling, word-choice, and collocation problems limit precision. Examples include “sorroundings,” “largerly,” and “travlling,” as well as unnatural expressions such as “snap up” for taking photographs and “apple of the eye” for seeking attention. “Absolute experience” is also unclear in the conclusion. These choices sometimes make the reader pause, even though the overall message remains understandable. Aim for accurate, natural combinations such as “take snapshots,” “seek validation,” and “fully experience a destination,” and proofread carefully for spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a clear cause-and-effect construction beginning “As a result” and a concession in “although social media has encouraged people…”. Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors and awkward constructions remain. For example, “In addition to, snap up has become…” lacks a grammatical continuation after the linking phrase, while “people who constantly focus on their cameras tend to miss out meaningful experiences” has an incorrect pattern after “miss out.” In “this activity should be adopt by professionals,” the passive verb form is incorrect. There is also inconsistent capitalisation at the start of the final sentence. Review verb forms, preposition patterns, and sentence boundaries to improve accuracy while retaining your range of structures.
